Router: R7800
Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r51887 std (02/28/23)

My phone was refusing to connect to the 2.4ghz WIFI, it would try to connect, then drop and retry, non stop..

So I tinkered around with some of the settings to see if I could make it stable (tried turning off TurboQAM, for example, as I read that somewhere), but now it refuses to come up properly, and does not show on the phone under available WIFIs.

The Wireless Status pages does not seem to report healthy numbers either:

Nothing untoward in the log as far as I can see.

I even tried restoring a config file from earlier this evening, before it disappeared and still not coming up..

I do not think the current firmware is to blame, because I reverted back to r50146 and it was happening there as well. (It might well have been going on for a while, as I only use 5ghz on my phone/laptop, so might not have realised)

If there is anything I can provide that might be useful please let me know.

Could it be a hardware issue?

change firmware type to - Vanilla
use short preamble - so, enable it
set sensitivity ACK range to 900

do not use settings save file from different builds..on reset rebuild settings manually!

Unless you're in a *really* congested area for 2.4 band, use channel 1, 6, or 11. Looks as if the old presumptions were correct, the old default for ack timing of 2000 is actually 2250. All you really need at most is 900 or 1350, but you can test 450 and 1800 as well.

Thanks for the feedback.. I have made the recommended changes, but the WIFI AP is still not showing up on my phone, nor does the status page look healthy to me:

For example, my selected channel (1) shows as "Unknown"? TX Power as 0 dbm.

im sorry but on R7800 wlan1 is the 5Ghz radio..and you are showing it off..
2,4Ghz is wlan0 ...

If your router behaves funny try to reset the router and manually enter all the settings accordingly..do not load save files from an old or different builds...

Read it carefully and try those recommended settings...also use vanilla but not DDWRT firmware.. Cool

for example my r7800 is rock solid with its current wifi set up...

Yes I fully understand, however with people in the house that dont appreciate having downtime its tempting to just upgrade the firmware with no reset. Very Happy

Im in the process of documenting all the config on my router now, so if I get a chance I will do a reset and re-configure the things that I have set up.

this is not true on the r7800 wlan0 has always been the 5ghz interface
and I have 5 of them

by the way my 2,4Ghz wifi works

maybe you should test build 51937

to make is easier... export those router pages to PDF or print to PDF than copy paste the values Wink most of the modern browsers support than PDF thing.. Cool

Just as an update.. I updated to r51887 again, this time doing a reset (and manually inputting the settings, and the 2.4ghz finally came back to life. Smile

Thanks for the assistance.
