Welcome to Atheros r51855 beta release thread for reporting, feedback to developers and community benefit.
Please do not flash builds until installation is understood, risks involved and device specific recovery methods.
Avoid discussions, create threads for questions, general problems or use search; this thread is not for support.
List router model & version or revision, operating & wireless modes & exact filename/firmware image flashed.


CLI Flash: 'cd /tmp' then 'wget {file URL}' (http only) or 'curl -O {file URL}' (http, https, ftp). 'write {file} linux' then 'reboot'.

Issues, observations, and/or workarounds reported:
WebUI: Clear history or use a portable. Temporary cache bypass: Ctrl+F5, Cmd+Shift+R or new private window/incognito.
Please report findings with steps needed to reproduce, configuration, clients, output, logs and important information below!

Important:
Detail issues & relevant configs, logs: syslog klog 'dmesg' 'cat /tmp/var/log/messages' nvram set console_debug=1, serial.
• Firewall NAT: 'iptables -vnL' 'iptables -t nat -vnL' 'iptables -t mangle -vnL' & 'cat /tmp/.ipt'. Misc: strace tcpdump wireshark.
• Gremlins: reboot. cold boot. Reset & reconfigure not restore backup. Search Trac & discuss in forum before opening tickets.
• Include operating & wireless modes (e.g. Gateway, Router, AP, SB, WDS, Mesh) and applicable configurations to reproduce.

LED's are all up but I don't care as I turn them off anyways as I Don't Like flashing lights distracting me at my desk. Firewall logs tracking my Usual suspects trying to penetrate my network.

Mode/Status: Gateway, SFE Disabled, Wifi 5 (DDWRT)/2.4(VANILLA) Main+Guest(VAP), Entware, Dnscrypt, OpenVPN, NAS, traff, Static & DHCP / Up and Running.
Issues/Errors: All working (including 5GHZ LED which has operated reliably for the last couple of releases) / Cosmetic error on Wireless Page.

Wireless > Basic Settings:
Between the DOMAIN and TX Power there's a new radio button with the label "undefined" which is defaulted to "Disable".

Edit: Flush browser cache and reload to correct. Thanks blkt!

Actually the button is labeled "Override Chipset Restrictions" and from the code I found for it, it can be deduced it would allow for going higher in TX power, higher than 'chipset restrictions' ...

Without further explanation it could be a potentially dangerous proposal. Not for the operator, mind you, but for the transmitter. So, is there a 'lowdown' available on this setting (if lowdown is indeed what you call the ultimate explanation?)

As a positive aside in these dark days ... the 5 GHz LED came on and survived a reboot on this very latest build, whereas the chance of getting it to work by settings change and reboot trickery seemed to become slimmer with the immediately previous builds.

The fact is that the router connected to the Internet (to the Internet provider). And it reports an error, the orange WAN indicator flashes (the icon in the form of a planet). Internet is working, I just think it's a glitch

r51855 std (02/25/23) - Not on my r7800...5GHz LED still not working. So far startup script runs on reboot.

Overnight 5GHz LED started working. I did nothing. 5GHz LED Still working after a couple of reboots. So far startup script runs after reboots.

Ignore WAN DNS with static DNS servers, DNSMASQ, cached DNSSEC, Validate DNSSEC replies, no DNS rebind, Query DNS strict order. WPA 3 and WPA 2. Syslogd to FS on br0 LAN. Cooling fan USB attached. WAN traffic counter.
