Hello all,

I kinda made a n00bish mistake.

My primary (ISP's) modem/router has a default ip of 192.168.2.254. Until today I had my second WiFi router (the ddwrt one) running as a second AP with ip 192.168.2.201. Which worked fine.

Today, I thought it would be a good idea (NOT) to change the 192.168.2.201 address to 192.168.2.255.

Since then, I can still connect to it's WiFi and the Internet works. But I can no longer access the ddwrt web ui. Not in 201 nor on 255.

After some googling, I found out this is probably because the 255 IP is reserved for 'broadcast'.

The question is: How do I fix this and change the IP back to a legitimate one while not being able to access the webui?
I never enabled ssh. I tried connecting to it via telnet, but it fails to connect on both the old and new ip.

Thanks in advance.

Reset the router and start over.

I did today.
Reset it and set it up again with IP 192.168.2.201 and all is working again.

Thanks.

255 is the Broadcast address. It will send to all stations on the sub-net. It cannot be used as a node address. Use the range 1-254.

Not to confuse the topic, but a .255 could be used if it was on a subnet of /23 or less for example if you had:
192.168.0.0/23
your usable addresses are
192.168.0.1 - 192.168.1.254
with the broadcast as
192.168.1.255

so technically 192.168.0.255 is usable.

Assuming OP is on a /24 so yes.
