Hello dear DD-Wrt community and sorry if I put thread in a wrong section. (I haven't found "offtopic" section)

I was thinking in buying new router. My current is Linksys EA8500 (DD-WRT of course).
I was thinking to buy router which supports MESH.

I was told this one two:

1. Linksys MR9600/AX600
2. Linksys Hydra Pro 6/AX 5400

This two good for mesh.
But i read on internet pretty mediocre feedbacks regarding Linksys it was said it has pretty cratty chipset (or i did not understand properly this comment)

My goal - to make "wi-fi" signal more stable on a kitchend (the furthest point from my router).

Can you suggest something please or i should focuse on another brands (Netgear, Ubiquiti) ?

I would like to use DD - WRT on new router of course if it's a possble.

Sorry for offtopic.

Kind regards to our community.

Just get a second EA8500 or another model with the Atheros chip.

R7800/XR500 is also recommended.

And to "put" it in a repiter mode for better signal on my kitchen?

R7800 - older version (512 MiB ram / 128MiB flash)

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2540003.m570.l1313&_nkw=netgear+nighthawk+r7800&_sacat=0

XR500 - newer version (512 MiB ram / 256MiB flash)

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2540003.m570.l1313&_nkw=netgear+nighthawk+xr500&_sacat=0

but some of these prices seem far too cheap for either (IMO, YMMV)

No, this is a C7800 with a Cable Modem. Not supported by dd-wrt

Thank you for an explanation and spending your time for me, Mr. Per Yngve Berg

Per Yngve Berg Can I ask you, please? I read carefully your previous comments in a different topics. And in one of the topic you did reply:

https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=331920&view=next

Thank you very much that you convinced me to buy either Linksys EA8500 or Netgear XR500 or R7800/

And at this moment I am confused a bit, because I was thinking to buy Mesh WI-fi system (Velop, Orbi or Asus etc). But as i understand it's about "marketing" a lot (all this mesh).

My goal is to improve my WiFi speed (signal) to the further point from my router. (My kitchen)

My ISP provides 100 megabits, I want to have at least 50-60 megabits speed in the hall and in the kitchen (now the wireless download speed in a hall is 20 megabits, on the kitchen is about 10 megabits).

I use a bundle: Linksys EA8500 (DD-Wrt) + Linksys Extender RE6800.
With this bundle my download speed on a kitchen is about 10 megabits as I mentioned above.

Question:

If i buy additional Linksys EA8500 (and I'll set it up as an extender instead of Linksys RE6800.
Or if I buy Netgear R7800 or XR500 (models that you kindly advised to buy) and make something like hybrid. (I mean my main router Netgear XR500 or R7800 + I will make Linksys EA8500 Extender, if it's a possible)

Can I get better speed in the kitchen and in the hall? Will it get faster? Like 40-50 Mbps.

[Better = Less signal degradation, interruptions, jamming, etc.]

The only reason I was thinking about mesh system as YouTube, and one person told me that this will solve an issue with "dead zones" in my flat.

But my mind and Mr. Per Yngve Berg comment leads me to think that maybe I can save money and do, cheaper? (I mean maybe there is no reason in buying mesh-WiFi systems)

Kind regards,

P.S. I am sorry for many texts and if I went away from the main topic please sorry in advance.

This mesh WiFi i read about that since Friday.
I already did forum search and didn't find something similar sorry in advance if i am inattentive.

Atheros tri-band extender, extra 5 GHz radio for backhaul: Netgear EX7500, EX7700 or EX8000 stock firmware only.
Otherwise Ethernet backhaul with another EA8500 or R7800/XR450/XR500 avoid sacrificing radios for WDS or Mesh.

I am using EA8500 with EX7500, works well but of course best solution is Ethernet to another router as access point.
My ISP is 180 Mbps and always achieve this speed even if I extend too far terrible signal quality let's say about 30%.
