Hi everyone,
I have multiple usb storage devices connected to my d-link router running dd-wrt (presently r51506 but i had the same message with other builds) and i always have this message in logs and when running dmesg:
Quote:
EXT4-fs (sdb2): warning: mounting unchecked fs, running e2fsck is recommended
I have few questions regarding this message:
1- Is there something to be worried about here ?
2- how can i execute e2fsck and what would be the parameters ?
3- how to get rid of the message if possible ?
Thanks for your help

Many thanks Alozaros, i'll try the command.
EDIT:
This is the message i get when running the command:
Quote:
sh: eval: line 0: e2fsck: not found
It seems that e2fsck is not a recognized command ?
its possible your router doesn't have it...as not all routers have it...
as well follow the ho1Aetoo advise EXT2 files system doesn't have a journaling
and it works ok...just bear in mind in logs ext2 could be recognised as ext4 but its ok..
Im using ext2...only and avoiding NTFS...as those are not native linux and dont always do well.. _________________ Atheros

Ok, i'll execute the commands in terminal. Under NAS tab, i have no sdb1 or sdb2, i only have sda1, sda2, opt and jffs (separate flash drive for those two)
Ok, i'll format both opt and jffs2 partitions. Command lines to do this easilly under dd-wrt are welcome. Otherwise, i'll try to format the partitions by connecting flash drive to mac, and using OSx tools.
that may be, that's why you enter such commands in a ssh or telnet terminal
if the command in the terminal does not work either then there are no e2fsprogs on the router ... then it probably looks bad
and yes there seems to be something wrong with sdb1
I confirmed that there are no e2fsprogs on D-link dir 882-A1 after executing commands on SSH
I formatted opt/jffs (sdb1, sdb2) by connecting flash drive physically to macbook and using an appropriate tool, and some warnings disapeared but came back soon after some reboots. Seems to be some systemic issue with ext2 formatted drive with op, jffs partitions.
