First off, my apologies if this should be obvious, but I'm really lost. I'm currently on version 40559 - yes, typical mistake - used the link from the router database. Now, I'm finally looking at the correct ftp folder and I'm seeing three files there:

*DDWRT.img
*webflash.bin
ddwrt-venom-uboot-flash-flat.img

Which one do I use if I just want to quickly and painlessly upgrade from 40559 to 51506?

Thanks!

Is this for a Marvell based router?

See the forum guidelines with helpful pointers about how to research your router, where and what firmware to download, where and how to post and many other helpful tips:

This is for an old WRT320N. So, Broadcom. I'm not even looking for "the best" fw; just trying to figure out how to deal with the three files in the ftp folder.

The linksys WRT320N does not have its own folder where are you looking?

The linksys WRT320N is equivalent to an E2000 and should be safe to get a current version, latest is 51506.

Be sure to get the K3 build from the Broadcom_K3X folder, reset to defaults *after* upgrade and put settings in manually.

Nowhere in the router database or the device wiki does it point to those files.

Thanks everyone. Appreciated. So, it's K3X and specifically the file linked by Per Yngve Berg.

To answer the questions, the ftp folder with three files I was looking at is 'linksys-wrt32x', which I assumed to include the 320N (thought, the 'x' was a wildcard). Got confused, so didn't use any of those. The 40559 must have been in the list that comes up when searching for my router model (router database?). Now, it shows the 44715, but it's been a while since.

The router database does not contain current release information, and probably never will. There is a disclaimer stating this as well as pointing to the Supported Devices wiki, which contains more updated information on what routers are supported as well as links to further information.
