I'm new to DD-WRT and OpenVPN and configuring this. I have a setup guide using OpenVPN from my VPN provider. I've upgraded my router to DD-WRT but there is no option to use OpenVPN in the Control Panel. I could not find any information on why it is not available. Am I missing something? Do certain versions of DD-WRT not have OpenVPN? Please help...

What router? Which buildnumber?
Not all routers/builds have OpenVPN.
See the forum guidelines with helpful pointers about how to research your router, where and what firmware to download, where and how to post and many other helpful tips:

Almost all VPN providers have outdated and sometimes even wrong setup instructions.
The router is TP-Link WR-940N version 6
Router details
Chipset TP9343
RAM 32 MB
FLASH 4 MB
Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r44715 std (11/03/20)
Can I install OpenVPN? Or can it be that it is not supported due to hardware limitations?

Build 44715 is an old and outdated build, not that it matters, routers with 4 MB flash do not have OpenVPN it just does not fit, besides the CPU is so anaemic that you would not have more than 1-2 Mb/s throughput.

nope the router you have doesn't have VPN module due to its hardware..
small flash size ram of 4mb and slow cpu ..
for vpn and good vpn performance you’d
need a better router with dual core cpu something like NETGEAR R6400v2 or R7000
will do around 30Mbit over VPN …
Also the build you are running 44715 is very old and missing security updates…
last build is 51440 _________________ Atheros
