Model: Netgear R7800
Firmware: Version DD-WRT v3.0-r51184 std (01/06/23)
Kernel: Version Linux 4.9.336 #1479 SMP Fri Jan 6 02:42:22 +07 2023 armv7l
Upgrade: HTTPS Web GUI
Previous Build: 47381
Reset: NO
Uptime: 4 hours no issues.
Router purpose/Configuration: Gateway. DHCP Cable WAN connection. Single bridging Vanilla 2.4 Ghz VLAN, Vanilla 5Ghz VLAN, 5Ghz virtual isolated VLAN with FW rule to access 2.4 Ghz resource(s).
Everything still 100% functional. Had to adjust Web UI Styles due to many changes since build updated from. Seeing improvements with 5Ghz band from 47381 including fixes to available channel width.
Router/Version: R9000 (x2), R7800 (x4)
File/Kernel: 51184
Previous/Reset: no reset
Mode/Status: WDS AP (R9000), WDS Stations (R9000, R7800 (x4))
Issues/Errors: streaming over the LAN has hiccups on both 51140 and 51184. rolling back to 50963 solves the problem. it appears that this doesn't happen with streaming from the WAN (youtube, Amazon Prime Video)
Found something that started with this build. I use DNSMasq and set the DNS servers via the Additional Options. I use IPv4 and v6. It seems that DNSMasq ignores the "server" settings for IPv4. (I think this has been that way for a while.) I put the IPv4 servers I want on the Setup tab. (I use CloudFlare). With this last update, I was having trouble getting DNS service and I finally noticed that DDWRT did not have an IPv4 DNS address. When I looked, the IPs on the Setup tab were cleared back to 0.0.0.0. I know I did not do that. When I set Static 1 and 2 back to 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1, DNS service came back.
Did something clear those settings in the last build? _________________ Netgear R9000

VAP on wlan1 for internet devices
IPv4 & IPv6 (Prefix Delegation)
Static Leases & DHCP
CloudFlare, no SFE, SmartDNS, no QoS
2.4GHz: Vanilla, Airtime Fairness, NG-Mixed, ACK Timing 3150, WPA2 w/AES & WPA3
5GHz: Vanilla, Airtime Fairness, AC/N Mixed, ACK Timing 3150, WPA2 w/AES & WPA3
2 Netgear AX1800 WiFi Mesh Extenders
Xfinity 1.2Gbps/35Mbps
EA8500 set to restart every Sunday at 3am.
This morning, it was on but no data was flowing - both ethernet and wifi.
I turned it off and back on again via its switch and it came back up ok. _________________ ------------------------------------

very unlikelly. over lan its just like a dumb switch. no software involved here _________________ "So you tried to use the computer and it started smoking? Sounds like a Mac to me.." - Louis Rossmann https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eL_5YDRWqGE&t=60s

"It seems that DNSMasq ignores the "server" settings for IPv4"..
nope i guess its cloudflare thing as it uses dualstack and ipv6 with priority...i believe...
As you are pointing to DNS via server=1.1.1.1
i guess you also have either no-resolv command at DNSmasq advanced option or ignore ISP DNS at basic settings page, than you dont need to put anything in the static DNS box's...
As far as "router" prefers ipv6 DNS prior to DNS4...yes it does that, but not the router more likely the cloudflare preferes to use DNS6 and its one of the major problems for me, as it sends the queries to both DNS4 and DNS6, but replys DNS6 with priority, if you set it up like that and goes around some DNS4 restrictions i have......(ipv4 dns block lists)..
So for the moment I dont use any ipv6 anywhere yet...unless is desperately needed...i will stay behind the NAT Wink and stick to ipv4 and dns4 Razz
I dont have anything is static DNS boxes
I add my DNS4 via DNSmasq advanced options like you... server=
The only place you can add DNS v6 so far is at advanced DNSmasq options..
what is the output of
cat /tmp/resolv.dnsmasq
mine shows nothing ...as im using a stub resolver(stubby)
but i guess it should ve shown my router IP or 127.0.0.1(the loopback)
i guess DNSmasq and ipv6 is WIP atm...
My DNS settings are working as they should...its strange how your router lost its DNS settings...
If i ware you, i would use SmartDNS and its DNS encryption capabilities, as well there you can specify DNS4 or DNS6 and it will race and show you the fastest response/replay..
Dualstack IP Selection
"At present, IPV6 network is not as fast as IPV4 in some cases. In order to get a better experience in the dual-stack network, SmartDNS provides a dual-stack IP optimization mechanism, the same domain name, and the speed of IPV4. Far faster than IPV6, then SmartDNS will block the resolution of IPV6, let the PC use IPV4, the feature is enabled by dualstack-ip-selection yes, dualstack-ip-selection-threshold [time] is for threshold. if you want to disable IPV6 AAAA record complete, please try force-AAAA-SOA yes"
as well you can use SmartDNS servers only, so no other DNS router settings will take into account...of course you can use a normal, not encrypted DNS4 or DNS6 servers too.. _________________ Atheros

I need to add the IPv4 DNS servers to the Static DNS fields to get:
nameserver 1.1.1.1
nameserver 1.0.0.1
nameserver 2606:4700:4700::1111
nameserver 2606:4700:4700::1001

Ignore ISP DNS is checked, but I don't have no-resolv

I am not seeing that. I get no IPv4 DNS server when I use the "server=" advanced option

I tried SmartDNS once and saw no benefit. I will try again. _________________ Netgear R9000

I turned on SmartDNS, and enabled all options (maybe that is a bad idea). No IPv4 DNS servers.
settings for SmartDNS
enable resolver - enable
dualstack IP selection - enable (if you want to race ivp6 & ipv4 answer) otherwise live it to disable
prefetch domain - disable
serve expired - enable
use additional servers only - enable
