Router/Version: TP-Link WDR4900 V1
File/Kernel: tl-wdr4900-webflash.bin / Linux 4.4.302-st25 #2942 Wed Nov 23 04:45:32 +06 2022 ppc
Previous/Reset: r50931 / yes
Mode/Status: Gateway / bad flash
Issues/Errors: yes.
Unsuccessful firmware installation. After that, all indicators start flashing. I returned to the secret assembly r50931.
It is better to refrain from installing, having no experience in recovery
Router/Version: TP-Link TL-WR841ND v11
File/Kernel: tl-wr841nd-webflash.bin / Linux 3.18.140-d6 #159984 Sat Dec 31 07:12:11 +06 2022 mips
Previous/Reset: r51043 / no
Mode/Status: AP wired and wireless / Up and running for 2 hours
Issues/Errors: Nothing significant
The fact is that the router connected to the Internet (to the Internet provider). And it reports an error, the orange WAN indicator flashes (the icon in the form of a planet). Internet is working, I just think it's a glitch
Thank you BS and gurus
Happy new year to everybody!

Can you switch boot partitions e.g. from command line interface:
ubootenv list
Then look for "boot_part"
If boot_part is 1 set to two and the ohter way around with:
ubootenv set boot_part X
Haven`t tried with my network routers yet but have several spare ea8500s and tried to upgrade r51140 over r50057 with the same issue. Tried to change my bootpart from 1 to 2 with "ubootenv set boot_part 2" and "ubootenv set boot_part=2" but no change. I`m willing to experiment with this since if I bork it up someone here is going to help me fix it anyway or should I just wait on next upgrade ? _________________ ......All GOOD here... you can change boot parts but it makes NO difference on these last few builds for the EA8500 ....BS will have to fix --- just got it a lil screwed ATM.
AND
EA8500 part 1 is the largest boot partition ...slightly bit larger than (linux2) boot part 2
anyways NONE of that makes a bit of difference in this case ---
bestest I remember without looking up part 1 will take firmware 'bout 40MB
part 2 only 'bout 39.75MB

As you see in this build thread there are a lot of people upgrading from recent builds without a reset.
For the routers I administer (friends/family) which are upgraded 2-3 times a year, I reset maybe once every two year (and build from scratch, restoring from a backup is pointless, garbage out, garbage in)

My own test bed is upgraded very often and is reset every couple of months or sooner if I have been tinkering a lot
I had a similar question.
Was curious what, if any, prompts Gurus to manually re-config their settings i.e. reset.
Is there any particular event that causes it or just 'tinkering' or 'feel like it' like you mentioned?

Thanks,
I'm not egc but one reason some of us reset is to make sure all GUI functions still work in the newer builds.
AND
If you have problems that shouldn't be then a reset should be done
