Router/Version: Netgear XR500 (Install guide by egc)
File/Kernel: dd-wrt-webupgrade.bin (r51043) / Linux 4.9.336 #1437 SMP Mon Dec 19 15:35:19 +07 2022 armv7l
Previous/Reset: DD-WRT v3.0-r51040 std (12/17/22) / no
Mode/Status: AP, SFE, AP 5GHz Mixed 80MHz + AP 2.4GHz NG-Mixed 20MHz, 802.11r (FT), SSH (public key), DDNS (Dynu.com), 802.11 encapsulation offloading, ondemand CPU governor at night, USB Storage (guide by egc), lighttpd (using Entware’s php8), CIFS Automount, WireGuard server, Cron / working
Issues/Errors: all settings are reset to default, probably the fail-safe mechanism triggered after multiple boot fails. Restoring NVRAM .bin from r51040 is not recommended, so I nvram erase && reboot and reconfigure from scratch using Palemoon Portable.

Also with /dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2022/12-17-2022-r51040/tplink_tl-wdr4900v1/

I get the same

???

Did you try CLI flash to see if there was an underlying issue?

Also on build 51043 the 5GHz LED stays off even though 5 GHz is enabled and has (two) users connected. Just as with the previous build. It used to work, but unfortunately I don't know from which build the bug was introduced.

Last version that has 5GHz LED working on R7800 is 50927.

No, only via web interface.
I don't quite understand why a different version number is displayed.

I have two R7800s as wired access points. Only light I've ever seen on outside of the boot cycle is Power, even with connected devices on wlan0 and wlan1. I always assumed this was normal.

Perhaps you haven't noticed, but there's a slide switch on the back of the R7800 at the right hand side that will switch all LEDs except the left-most Power LED off and on.

Thanks ArjenR49. I was not aware of that switch, as these devices were a fairly recent acquistition. I have the same issue with the 5GHz light. I was set to Vanilla, changed to DD-WRT, Apply, back to Vanilla, Apply. Rebooted three times and still no light. I have my two R7800 access points and my WRT1900AC router each set to hardcoded channels (100, 132, and 52, respectively), so I can see that my laptop is connected to 5GHz on the R7800 I was experimenting with. The other lights are working.

I don't quite understand why a different version number is displayed.

Either the image is bunk, or flash failed. CLI flash or tailing the syslog or having serial console up and running would show if the flash failed.

Oh, that's what you mean. Yes, if the flashing fails, it stays with the old version.

But I had a several year old version on the WDR4900.

When flashing r51043 I got r50931.

I had never installed or downloaded r50931.

r50931 is not even in the downloads.

Interesting. I'll email BrainSlayer.

You have the switch in the back of the router in the off position.
