I may be over complicating things so I wanted to ask. I have been running dd-wrt on a netgear for several years now and I think it's time to upgrade the hw. I'm looking at the db here vs new gear on amazon. of course I don't expect to find something for ever router found but I am looking for something newer than 10 year old hw I'm using now. I'd like to upgrade to wpa3 and I do see it on the online demo. my question is once I find some hw to run dd-wrt, are there any hw that is better/worst to use? if this runs the same across the board, that's fine.
Router Model - Netgear WNDR4300
Firmware Version - DD-WRT v3.0-r44715 std (11/03/20)
Kernel Version - Linux 3.18.140-d5 #95602 Tue Nov 3 05:25:01 +03 2020 mips
I did not see a later build for this device so another reason I was looking to upgrade

Well of course you have read the forum guidelines by now and now know that 44715 is an old and outdated build and that you should not use the router database
P.S. also note the disclaimer on the router database:
