I upgraded from 10/26/2022 - r50671 and I got flashing green power light after the update. Router does not respond to ping.

I do not know what router you have but for starters just power down and after 10 sec put power back on and wait for a couple of minutes

It's a Netgear R6300. I tried power cycling, it does not respond to ping. I am trying to flash the firmware using TFTP now but I am getting timeouts.

I assume it is a v1?

You can try nmrpflash, instructions can be found in the R6400v2 guide see my signature

Yes, it is a V1. Thank you, I was able to get my router back into a working state. I made the following observations:

  • nmrpflash needs to be started immediately after powering the router on. Once ping responses start coming in, it is too late.
  • nmrpflash only seems to work with .chk files. .bin files do get uploaded, but upon waiting for router response TFTP_UL_REQ error appears.
  • Flashing 50927 .chk did not result in a working router, so it was not a bad flash it seems
  • Reverting to 50671 got me back to a working state.

Given the timing issues with nmrpflash, it would be interesting to know whether tftp would work as well if started earlier. I was only starting it after the ping responses started coming in.

Would it make sense to check which of the six builds since 10-26-2022-r50671 is the first broken one? Or is it unlikely to provide enough information without a full bisect and/or serial console log? I have the UART dongle for odroid-xu4, but the connector on the R6300 are likely not the same, right?

It would certainly help if you could bisect this so that we know where things went wrong.

I found this for serial access: https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=871101

Usually you should never connect the power of the serial access, only TX,RX and GND.

Router/Version: Linksys E3000
File/Kernel: dd-wrt.v24-50927_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-e3000.bin / Linux 4.4.302-st25 #20233 Mon Nov 21 05:51:08 +06 2022 mips
Previous/Reset: OEM 1.0.01 build 6 Apr. 15, 2010 / yes, several
Mode/Status: Repeater Bridge on wl0 2GHz Mixed; AP on wl1 5GHz Mixed + OVPN and WG Client
Issues/Errors: Took several power cycles, resets both back button and gui, but got it to take. Main thing is to give it lots of time even when gui does not look like loading when switch tabs, give it time, after I did that, then all gui tabs work and up and running.

This was direct from Factory OEM to ddwrt.

Thank you ddwrt team!

Also helpful can be deleting the browser cache (CTRL+F5).

Furthermore some browser can be more picky then others especially Chrome can play some tricks now and then.
