Hi everybody!
I'm currently running DDWRT r48810 in a Linksys WRT32X router but I'm having WiFi issue.
I tried other builds, newer/older, but the problem persisted on each.
When I set Wireless Security to WPA2 Personal with SHA256, I can connect to the network, but after about 30 seconds it disconnects me. The computer still sees the network, but when I try to reconnect, I get the message "Unable to connect to the network". Same on other devices.
On my WRT1900ACS V2 the same settings work just fine.
When I set Wireless Security to WPA2 Personal only, Wi-Fi works fine.
I would really appreciate any suggestions/solutions.
For security settings the most important factor is client compatibility, but also wireless basic/advanced settings.
Clients may not behave on SHA256, but also there are no wireless driver updates from Marvell, Linksys or NXP.
So use default security settings that work CCMP-128 (AES). Upgrade to r50906, r48810 is six months old now.
WRT1900ACS V2 has different hardware and there is not enough configuration details to work with on an old build.
So I suggest you rebuild the configuration from scratch on r50906 after factory defaults or nvram erase && reboot.
I upgraded as you advised and now i have problem with wifi 2.4. Very poor range and often the router stops transferring the internet to this band. On 5GHz works perfect. On build 48810 everything worked fine (except SHA256).
I have the same settings. Any ideas what's wrong?
At the moment I'm throwing in r50841, I'll see how it goes.
I'm new at DD-WRT, I would really appreciate any help with it.
Do a full factory reset firston build r50841 and try setting up wifi without changing other settings.
5ghz is old and should be used as primary. 2.4ghz should be used as secondary.
Setup wifi name, channel width, and leave channel on auto for now. do not change any other WiFi settings. If you want to change channel manually, you can use dd-wrts built in channel survey to find the best channel or use an android phone running a WiFi scanner.
For WiFi password, Stick with tkip and AES. If it works, enable sha256.
Now as for your client devices. What are they? state what each of them are along with operating system if possible _________________ For people who are new to the dd-wrt forums >> http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html#rtfm

As before every upgrade, I reset the router to factory settings.
5GHz is my primary band and this band works flawlessly.
I need the 2.4 band for one computer (automation software assigned to the configuration), for the controller managing home automation and Garmin watches.
Even with open 2.4GHz network, other settings at default, transfer from router to computer/phone/raspberry/arduino max 11Mbps, but upload 40Mbps. On both builds: r50841 and r50906. On r48810 everything works as it should: 60-70 Mbps download, 40-50 Mbps upload.
I tried changing the channel width to 40MHz, there was a slight improvement, but not what it should be.
I gave up on SHA256, it doesn't want to work on my WRT32X on any build. On the WRT1900ACS V2 both: band 2.4 and SHA256 work great even on the latest build.
My client devices:
1. Basic Desktop: Intel Wi-Fi AX200 integrated with mobo, Win10 PRO / Debian
2. Second Desktop: Intel Wi-Fi AX200 integrated with mobo, Win 10 PRO
3. Android 12 phones Qualcomm SoC's
4. Garmin watches
5. Raspberry Pi - no permanent system, I change it often.
6. Laptop: Atheros QCWB335 Win 10 PRO
7. Siemens Wi-Fi module for Siemens S7
Maybe I should try the WRT3200ACM version. Electrically, they are the same devices... _________________ DD-WRT V3.0-r50906 on WRT1900ACS V2
DD-WRT V3.0-r48810 on WRT32X last stable on this (at least for me)
EA6900 as spare
DD-WRT V3.0-r50906 on WDR4300 for tests/fun/learning
WRT3200ACM/WRT32X series avoid use for IoT, smart home automation, thermostat, switches, doorbells, cameras,
Arduino, ESP8266 etc. There are 2.4 GHz rate limiting workarounds, examples G-Only, BG-Mixed and WMM disable.
WRT3200ACM is not going to do any better. Consider Atheros hardware models R7800, XR500, R7500v2 or EA8500.
Unless you have an AP or old router to offload problematic devices otherwise waste of time testing save, reboot etc.
I also have WRT32x, but using Openwrt, and Wifi Speed is not very good.
I'm already thinking about to sell my, and buy new one, but i do not know which one will be perfect for DD-WRT or OpenWrt.
