Yes, it would help. After you logout, you can keep all your other your browser windows/tabs open but now you (or anybody else) can't simply browse to the router GUI (by accident or on purpose) without entering the user/passwd.
and hit enter. When it asks for password again, hit cancel. Congratulations, it won't let you in till you provide the correct username/password again. I'd still prefer a logout button on every page, like on email and banking websites.

Don't have your browser remember your password. Whenever you close the browser and access the router gui again, you must enter your password to access anything on the router except for the 1st screen (information page). You can also set the router to require a password prior to displaying this page (info site masking).
When you close the browser, your are logging off. At least that is the way it seems to work on all my routers. _________________ [Moderator Deleted]

In this day and age, I'm surprised such a simple function is missing from the builds. I'm sure I don't want my kid to be able to hop on wife's computer after I've made changes from there, and have access to the router just because I couldn't afford to close all the other tabs in the browser. This is ridiculous. Add it to the primary templates, it's a quick fix. Now I have to go find the cookies in question and clear those...

Thanks for this tip. What exactly is the W@ doing?
With "W@" you are trying to log in as "W" - this triggering dd-wrt to open authentication pop-up and after failing it won't let to open web panel. You can use any other string of letters, e.g. "Q@", "asd@" etc. - "W@" is just the simplest and the fastest to type
If you close the browser and restart it, the login info is asked again - that's good enough for me. _________________ THERE ARE NO STRANGERS HERE; ONLY FRIENDS YOU HAVEN'T YET MET.

For me logout button would be easier then close browser. Tp-link has it, except for some model i have seen. OpenWrt has it. Wouldn't this be simple to make in a new release?

It's a bizarre quirk and there must be something more endearing. Purposefully failing a fake login and creating a syslog entry just to logout? Actually I just tried that from Mac/Chrome, I got the failed login, and just backed up and hit refresh and was back in. That was after cancelling the login dialog, but also after entering a bad username and password a SECOND time. DD-WRT is actually amazingly resilient and retentive of login credentials! It's hard to get out of this thing.
I don't think I should have to close and reopen 10 browser tabs to do it either. This doesn't jive with DD-WRT's mission of increased security. My machine was hibernated for a couple of days and a simple refresh with form resubmission got me right back in. This might even happen with remote routers anywhere on the internet.
Update: apparently closing the tab alone accomplishes something on Chrome? but I'm not sure if it was a combination of things. This certainly makes me a little wary of logging into DD-WRT from unsecured remote machines. I would have to allot some real time to make sure I'm out. It's never going to be a quick login, change the firewall and exit type of thing with dd-WRT.
