I have a Netgear Nighthawk X6 AC3200.
As far as I know I uploaded DD-WRT firmware.

I say this because after the upload I can't access my router.
I have it connected to my computer via ethernet cable plugged into "internet" port on router. I rebooted the router using reset on router.

ipconfig shows
Connection-specific DNS Suffix: BLANK
Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address: 169.254.41.153
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway: BLANK

I have wi-fi connection disabled on computer.

If I have wi-fi "on" on the router my cell phone shows "dd-wrt" as an available wi-fi network. Goes away if I turn wi-fi "off" at router.

Using Chrome I tried
192.168 1.1
192.168.10.10
169.254.41.153

I unsuccessfully tried to give a static ip address.

What am I doing wrong. What do you suggest?

This is a self configured IP address by your workstation when it does not get an dhcp address. Set a static address 192.168.1.5 and try to access 192.168.1.1.

As I said in post, can't get it to take a static ip address.
If I go to "Edit IP Settings" IPv4 and enter
IP Address 192.168.1.1
Subnet prefix link 255.255.0.0
Gateway (not sure what goes here but I used) 10.0.2.2
Preferred DNS 8.8.8.8
Alternate DNS 8.8.4.4

I have IPv6 turned off

Are all these values OK?

You must not connect to the internet port but to a lan port.

This seem to be a partial fix.
Moved ethernet cable from "internet" to one of the four router LAN connections.

Then 192.168.1.1 took me to DD-WRT interface page. It prompted me to change password which I did.

Then it took me to the full control panel.
From there I went to firmware upgrade so I could upload the "netgear-r8000-webflash.bin file.
It starts to upload the file and then the web page with the control panel goes away snd I get"this site can't be reached" error message.

So I powered off/on the router and tried 192.168 1.1 again.
It took me to the control panel. Panel shows Firmware DD-WRT v3.0-r44715 std (11/03/20)

So, did it load my bin file?

If that was the file you uploaded then yes.

But 44715 is an outdated build.

Current build is 50814.

Read the forum guidelines full of helpful tips e.g.how to research your router, where to post, where to find builds and much more:

After the upgrade reset to defaults

So is the build you are referring to the "factory to DD-WRT .chk file or the .bin file?

Is my DD-WRT the wrong build. How do I find the correct build.

I have no idea the version or build numbers of the files I uploaded as they were not part of the file name.

I got these by searching the DD-WRT router database.

From stock Netgear firmware, all you need to do for initial flash is load the factory-to-ddwrt.chk file. The netgear-r8000-webflash.bin file is for upgrading or downgrading to a different release -after- DD-WRT has been flashed (after flashing the factory-to-ddwrt.chk file), not for flashing the same version on top of itself.

This is normal. Wait 5-10 minutes, then reload the page.

See above.

This was already answered above:

Thank you for the .bin file.

I'm still having problems. I tried upgrading firmware to this build. Shortly after starting the upload, my computer closes the DD-WRT Control panel and says "This Site can not be reached".
I wait about 3 minutes and try 192.168.1.1 but no luck. I reboot/reset the X6 router. Then DD-WRT loads up still with the old build number v3.0-r44715.

Another question. When I change to a static ip 192.168.1.1 what us the correct value for Default Gateway (or should it be blank?)

You need to wait until the procedure is complete, just randomly rebooting because you cannot be patient is not ideal.

Yes, router reboots and things are inaccessible until flash completed and reboot has completed. Seems you just cant wait long enough, the process varies per router.

The R8000 is not x6 (whats is that x6?) so IDK what the heck youre doing anyway.

My router is a Netgear R8000-100NAS AC3200 Nighthawk X6 3Band WiFi Router.
That's where X6 comes from.
