I installed DD-WRT in one of my VirtualBox VMs. I have a global host-only network set up. The VM has two network adapters:
1. Host-only: for host-guest networking, the IP has been set to static and within the subnet with my host.
2. NAT: Internet
I am able to ping the guest from my host Windows CMD, and the other way around. So I guess the connection is already there. I imagine I should be able to open my Chrome on my host, and access the DD-WRT web GUI through the same IP but I can't, neither with https:// nor http://. Chrome is telling me that the IP has rejected my connection.
It could be that chrome always defaults to https, try another browser with http:// and/or use incognito to exclude add-ons
I was excited for a moment because for once it prompted me to enter username/password after I switched to Edge and enforced http://. After which I was again shut out with the same message, and it never asks me for access again...
Something with the Firewall perhaps? I was running this on my company PC which is under a very high-security policy. I will head home and try again.
