Hello! I blocked the Reset button in the settings of the v.41791 firmware - and lost the password. Now I have to change the settings of the router (to use it in changed circumstances), but I can't even do a hard reset because in the settings of the DD-WRT firmware (build 41791) I blocked responding to the reset button. In fact, my router (Archer c9 v.2) has become a brick, although it is in perfect working order.
Any decision will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance for help!
Serial connection would do, or, TFTP recovery back to stock back to dd-wrt sort of thing.
But since we don know what router you have, cant really suggest anything else.

X2 on serial, TFTP recovery; serial would only require an nvram erase from CFE prompt, reboot, and then you can reconfigure your DD-WRT from scratch or (preferred) upgrade to the current release. TFTP of DD-WRT doesn't always clear nvram, and going back to stock and starting over is just plain masochistic. _________________ "The woods are lovely, dark and deep,

Thank you, dale_gribble39! I'm assuming that a newbie like me is incapable of unsoldering a serial cable. I downloaded a TFTP server in the hope that after reading its documentation I would know that it was possible to use Ethernet for recovery.
I hope that you will agree to answer the teapot's questions - they, unfortunately, will almost certainly arise .

If it is possible to unlock the hardware of my Archer C9 v2 by writing anything into it (which will allow me to install DD-WRT in the future), then I prefer this masochism to a very difficult OPENING the router (more precisely, practically destroying the case; this is NOT at all teardown in the case of the Archer C9 router!) and soldering wires and cables (which I'm simply not capable of because of my eyesight, not to mention more technical reasons ).
If with the help of any of these tools (https://bitbucket.org/phjounin/tftpd64/downloads/) it is possible to REPLACE the firmware that I have locked, then please tell me where I can TRY to learn how to do this (where to read HOW to do this)? Thanks again to both of you!
Sorry for contacting you again! I'm unable to start transfer from PC to router (Archer C9 v2).
The first possible reason: I did not understand how to configure my PC \ TFTPD-server TO PERFORM THE "Serve as TFTP server the renamed firmware on the following IP: 192.168.0.66" (as this told in the wiki) - I do not know where in my PC (in the TFTP server) I should set this IP?
By specifying this IP in the TFTP client (in my PC) and pressing the "PUT" button while I turn on the router with the "Reset" button pressed, I get a message that the transfer cannot be performed due the ~"lack of device". (My Firewall is configured).
The second possible reason is my (possible) ban on the "Boot time recovery" in addition to my ban on responding to the "Reset" button (see the picture, please). I'm not sure if I disabled the "Boot time recovery", but I probably did.Could such a setup be the reason for my failure, or the reason for the failure is my misunderstanding of the rules and methods of working with TFTP?
And you can also bind TFTPD32/64 to that IP address in it's settings. _________________ "The woods are lovely, dark and deep,

x2 for switch recommendation. You should also set anticipation window in TFTPD to at least 1024 bytes. As far as serial goes on TP-Link C9v2, you may run into a situation where either the tx and/or the rx pin are missing line resistors and you may have to bridge the pads on the board somehow. Unfortunately, the images on the OpenWRT wiki are missing to verify this. Further information that may be helpful and hopefully not confuse you, but possibly worth the read:
Huge thanks to both of you!!! I'll try to make sense of all this stuff and hopefully I'll be able to understand it... Of course I won't lose the password anymore - I hope ...
Thank you very much for your continuous effort to help!!!

that's why you set ssh access with key authorisation only, (no password log in for the ssh)..and than you have your back route to the router... (you can pass protect the key itself to make it safer)..

But what if the password protecting the client key is lost? Better hope that reset button isn't disabled and working, otherwise right back to square one. _________________ "The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
