Nobody said r50176, I said r50516 might release, if you are patient or not just flash r50500.

factory defaulted (reboot)
upgraded to 50176 2x so both partitions show the same thing (reboot each time for upgrade)
performed same procedure as before with no custom config just turned it on
turned off WLAN2

issue still present. with no VAP present wireless radios work fine. with 1VAP or more radio's broken.

what's next?

Are you attempting to connect smart home automation, internet of things, camera, doorbell or anything like these?

really only have 1 device that is a weather station. the wireless in that is really goofy so I have a VAP dedicated to that with specific settings to connect on the 2.4ghz radio. other wise mostly just computers, phones, start tv devices.

Have you tried disabling SFE? Simpler wireless channel settings for example network mode Mixed, or 20 - 40 MHz?

Do devices like the weather station need any workarounds G-Only BG-Mixed or WMM disable for 2.4 GHz stability?

haven't done anything with SFE and yes for the 20 vs 40. I just rolled back to factory firmware and testing with their latest firmware released in 2020. more to come.

Wireless Security tab settings, were they default WPA2 Personal and CCMP-128 (AES) so only two boxes checked?

Factory firmware works fine with 1VAP on each of the radio's I can't create more but I have the primary "secured" and guest networks for both. something funky with DDWRT code on this I think.

Not doubting the hardware and especially considering two WRT3200ACM, I am trying to rule out any configuration.

Most recent WRT3200ACM users with VAP setups I can find are brucehvn and plawer based on post history search.

whooh hold the phone, progress!

so factory defaulted the factory firmware
re flashed 2x with the factory-to-ddwrt code (required when coming from factory iso) to get on both partitions obviously

it's working on R48810 with the strip down minimal config we have been working with.

give me a few to test. and I'll load my old code back in to see what happens.

This is confusing the only way you can factory-to-ddwrt both partitions is with usb to ttl serial and u-boot prompt.
Did you mean to say you factory-to-ddwrt then upgraded dd-wrt webui with ddwrt-linksys-wrt3200acm-webflash?

What do you mean you loaded config? Did you restore a backup, and why did you go back to r48810 not r50500?
Something else is going on here, trying to pinpoint the reasons other than going back to factory and maybe reset.
