I setup an open vpn server on my windows pc. I have connected with other devices no problem. I want to connect to the openvpn server without routing internet traffic through the VPN.

Ddwrt connected to the server and I can ping the server address 10.24.1.1 from telnet on the ddwrt but thats it. I cannot talk to anything on the server from the client end.

My wan is 192.168.43.17
My lan Is 192.168.1.1
My vpn server is 10.24.1.1

I'm not seeing any errors in the logs but it seems there is some routes missing. I cannot talk to the vpn server from any of the devices on the lan except from the ddwrt router I can ping the server.

I am using this same configuration on another ddwrt router wH fw from the same year and it work fine. From advanced routing the routes looked about the same. I have no idea what I'm doin. Please help me thank
Wth!?!?!

I'm using netgear 6300v2. I tried many different year firmwares not luck

Recommended and latest build is 50357.

If you are coming from on older build or have been tinkering a lot a full reset after upgrading and rebuild manually is recommended.

Without seeing any settings or logs it is just a shot in the dark.

Make sure NAT is enabled on the client and that the clients subnet is unique so different from 192.168.1.0 and 10.24.1.0

OpenVPN documentation is a sticky in this forum:

I went ahead use used the build number you mentioned. How does the build number system work. byt that i mean why are there so many beta builds. Are they automatically generated? why is there basically a new version every week?

Anyways,
After resetting and re-flashing with the latest beta and doing a reset through telnet and with the reset button it works now. i tried a lot of different versions of the fw and had the same result until i reset through telnet.

Thanks for the reply if it wasn't for you mentioning full reset specifically i wouldn't have used terminal to reset the nvram which actually solved this problem i think.. thanks!!

Not automatic, DD-WRT always in development each change adds to number. WebUI Factory Defaults clears nvram.
I also use nvram erase && reboot from command-line Telnet root, though should be same as WebUI Administration.

I'm not really sure why it started working. I tried builds from 2018 to 2022 and they had the same problem. To be fair it could have been my vpn server. It still working. I noticed that if apply any firewall changes from website nat tab, it seems like the whole firewall goes down temporarily.

I have always used ddwrt when I can. These new factory netgear router fw just get worse and worse. I think netgears factory firmware is an abomination but thats just ny opinion.
