hi,

(1) what "factory-to-ddwrt" file I should be using while flashing dd-wrt for the first time on TP-Link Archer A7 V5? It's a brand new Archer A7 V5, haven't opened the box yet.

factory-to-ddwrt-03-18-2020-r42729.bin file from google drive (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tjjahUwBGy-gYNCk1CFEJ1t7pOuIe3X5/view) as per wiki

or

factory-to-ddwrt.bin from this new build page (https://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2022/09-27-2022-r50274/tplink_archer-a7-v5/) ?

(2) After flashing either of the above, I would need to flash "tplink_archer-a7-v5.bin" from the latest beta page (https://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2022/09-27-2022-r50274/tplink_archer-a7-v5/), right?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Use factory-to-ddwrt.bin to install DD-WRT, that's it. Upgrade to a new DD-WRT build with tplink_archer-a7-v5.bin.

I personally would wait for the next build after r50274, or maybe two.

Many thanks for the quick reply. Any particular reason to wait for next builds?

Since it's brand new, I was planning to test wireguard vpn on it, before return to seller window closes.

(I'm using wireguard on ASUS AC68U for a while, and it's working great)

Cleanup mode in general to wait for the dust to settle after major changes, webUI, kernels, dnsmasq soon I hope.
Use vanilla FW type in advanced wireless settings. I recommend used R7800, XR450, XR500, R7500v2 or EA8500.

Well build r50274 works quite well on atheros (except for the miniDLNA button)
The previous builds were also not absolutely bug-free... and who knows if the next ones are Mr. Green

More r50274 bugs were fixed than minidlna button or remove wireguard tunnels. New Build - 10/01/2022 - r50308

As expected, secondary minor cleanup release. New Build - 10/03/2022 - r50313
