Hey guys I am trying to set this up like you said for vlan id 35 for WAN.
I first go to switch tab and leave everything the way it is and just click check mark on tagged for WAN. it's under vlan 2 at this time.

Then go to networking tab, I add etho with tag 35 for tagging.

After that I got to WAN port assignment set that to eth0.35

I am unsure what I am doing wrong anymore. Tried different firmware and nothing.

Let's assume the "switch config" tab works on the DIR890L.
Then you only need to rename VLAN 2 to VLAN 35 and tag the WAN port.

(I can not guarantee that it works but is certainly quickly tried)

Well, after a router reboot VLAN2 should disappear and VLAN35 should appear for selection.

(at least that's my guess)

That does look right.
Now it would be interesting to know if it works?

and the "factory setting for the WAN port" is what is set by default after a router reset.

If it is VLAN2 then the router is VLAN based anyway as mentioned in the other thread.

Might also be good to know what build is on the router (I can see from the GUI that it is not the current build).

If it does not work via "switch config tab" we can also look via swconfig ...
But I found another thread in the forum regarding the DIR890L and the tab seems to be functional.

execute the command via telnet or ssh and post the output

Code:
swconfig dev switch0 show
