I have a library of routers, and wanted to see what the consensus is on a couple of routers.

I have both RT-AC3100s and RT-AC68Us.
I've noticed that the AC3100 only supports SFE, and does not support CTF/FA. My question is should it? I would think that if the router could support it, it would be detected.
The AC3100 is the faster router (1.4ghz, dual core) with both 2.4 and 5.0 radios that have 4x4. This *should* be able to support the full throughput of 1G/1G fiber, correct? (without QoS, of course)

The RT-AC68Us support it and I have configured it before. This should also be able to get to the 1G mark with the accelerators turned on I would think...

I ultimately want to get an EdgeRouter ER-4 as that has a quad core processor, or build my own x86 with APs, but that is budget restrictive at this time.

The RT-AC68U for giga WAN you will need CTF & FA the AC3100 not really should be fast enough with SFE and without any CTF wizardry.

AC3100 with SFE or maybe even without QoS should work, not with CTF & FA on the other router.

I don't see anything glaringly obvious as to why you don't have at least the choice between CTF and SFE on the AC3100, if not the choice between SFE, CTF, and CTF+FA. There's nothing in the kernel configs or router configs that stand out outside of .config_northstar_smp_debug:

.config_northstar#L1336
.config_northstar_smp#L1476
.config_northstar_smp_debug#L1360

An ls /lib/modules/$(uname -r) | grep ctf would reveal if the CTF module was present, and lsmod would show if it was loaded or not. I didn't dig very deep into the webUI code, but that would be the only other place to look outside of looking for the nvram variables. Of course, now I'm opening the door for manipulation of configurations and trial-by-possible-brick Twisted Evil

I can always inquire within to see if this is intentional or not. This may also depend on whether or not you are using the proprietary or experimental driver firmware image Wink

I will take a look when I have the chance. I had forgot about the experimental build for the AC3100. I'll take a look at that too. Thanks!!
