No internet connection but a quick reboot resolved the issue and it seems a reboot shows all options and clears issues, seen someone post it here. _________________ Netgear R7000

Mode: Gateway, SFE disabled, Wifi disabled, WAN disabled, Wireguard Endpoint for external VPS, connected via LAN to WRT1900ACS v2, Keep Alive reboot 6:05 in the morning
Reset: No
Status: Installed at release, ok.
It seemed that disabling SFE could reduce a lot of errors and warnings in the system log. For my old router Asus RT-N18U, it didn't quite affect internet bandwidth.

Previous/Reset: old kongac version, DD-WRT v3.0-r39345M kongac (04/03/19) / Reset to factory defaults - upgrade - Reset to factory defaults - one day after, Hard Reset ("30 reset")
Mode/Status: Gateway / Working
Issues/Errors:
Finally I decided to upgrade to a new version from an old kongac version, to be able to take advantage of new features like wireguard.. I took the last one, the 50146 one.
I made first a Reset to factory defaults through web GUI, then upgraded through web interface, then made another Reset to factory defaults through web GUI. Upgrade went fine.
After manual reconfiguration, I first had issues with dnsmasq dhcp, clients were getting 169.254.x.x addresses. Wifi was working fine for smartphone on 5Ghz network, not for printer on 2,4ghz network. I made an hard reset (30 reset) one day after, which solved the DHCP issue. Now wifi is not working anymore for smartphone (connected, but no internet access), and printer is still having issues on 2,4Ghz SSID. I can see the wireless clients getting connected, on the Status/wireless tab, but strangely, the printer can not be reached and smartphone does not get Internet access.
In the past, I did not make often changes on my previous configuration (old kongac version), it was working fine for several years for printer, smartphones, etc, everything ...
I hope the situation will stabilize, will try some other wifi parameters, but for the moment upgrading is some kind of pain, when there is such a gap between versions.
You dont do 30/30/30 resets on anything but ancient WRT54G and friends dinosaurs.
The Peacock Thread still recommends it on anything but Linksys EA-series routers; The Linksys EA2700 is MIPSR2 (BCM47186B0) and 30-30-30 may put it in Management Mode or soft brick it - there are also other Linksys E-series routers that have this "problem". If you go on the Linksys website, the Management mode how-to shows a WRT54* device image. Proper management mode is 30-5-5, FYI. We acquired many old Broadcom MIPSR1s over the past year, and whoever came up with this 30-30-30 reset needs to post up some Broadcom info / data sheets that specifically say this is a requirement at all. Hint: watch the lights on a WRT54* series and clones for proper signs. The whole 30-30-30 thing is overkill snake oil. MIPSR2 Linksys E-series and EA-series is a 10-30 reset and MIPSR1 (WRT54*) is 30-30.
Unfortunately, the following link doesn't work and is not archived, but to quote the web search cached text:
Quote:
How to hard reset Linksys WTR54GS?
Linksys WRT54G Reset Button Location. To reset your router, use the following steps: Press the reset button for 30 seconds. The settings should now be returned to the factory default settings, meaning any changes you had made would be deleted. Open up your Web browser and enter “192.168.1.1” in the address bar.

Update: the wifi finally stabilized on 2,4ghz and 5ghz networks, all is working fine !
This upgrade was not that easy, but the beast is up ! Thank you DD-WRTers !
I will try some of the new features for me in the next few days.

instead of using restrictions try this line (if your router supports it) ...you can fiddle/adjust time and days

Previous/Reset: DD-WRT v3.0 [Beta] Build 48540 / yes
Mode/Status: Gateway - AP - DHCP / Working with problems
Issues/Errors: New Build complexity has Broadcom NAS cause heat/load problems when a pair of VAPs are added to the Radios.
Re: Broadcom N-et A-uth S-ervice + Virtual APs = burn and crash. (Part 1)
I think there is a need for a new/optimized code especially for the Broadcom Network Authentication Service (NAS)... I had to incrementally reduced the services that I was able to run on my broadcom routher especially the D-Link AC3200 (DIR-890L) types: since version 36247 where I was running almost all service on most of them, including external NAS, Printer server, FTP server, internal Lighttp Page, QOS, 3 Tagged Virtual networks, 2 bridges, with all 3 Radios on and with 2 VAPs for each one of them, on kind of large lists (64) of DHCP Reserved IPs plus 20 rotating random clients, and some other regular network forwarding-triggering plus custom firewall rules - with CPU temps in the 62C-70C ranges, load of 0.47/0.36/0.09 (3%-10%) at idle/light-load and of 3.2/2.7/1.8 (40%-80%) on max-load...
... 'till few days ago on version 50146 where I can run only Gateway and the 3 Radios and no VAPs, nor other services with CPU temps in the 69C-72C range, load of 2.8/2.12/0/0.98 (14%-24%) at idle/light-load, otherwise when I add even just one VAPs per radio, as soon as I setup wireless Security (WPA2-PSK/WPA-PSK - TKIP+CCMP (AES)), the Management pages became completely unresponsive and temps goes between 73C-81C, load of 10.2/6.42/5.32 (80%-100%) and then it will crashes soon after and sometime even erasing/corrupting the NVRAM, so I've got to setup from scratch (I don't really trust backups between versions).
I know a large part is caused by the Broadcom NAS, since as soon as I eliminate the VAPs, load and temps go down and I am able to run Printer Server and FTP, but still no QOS, or File server or anything else.
The issue has gotten worst with each build... an it could effect more and more of the new multi radio Routers/APs: I am assuming that as more code/feature are added it started bogged down a bit some CPUs, but the Radios exponentially, since like many multi stream devices on the D-Link AC3200 (DIR-890L) is BroadcomNAS x3, or x6 with just one VAP each and x9 if you add one more VAP each for Guest Network, like I used to be able to have with older builds.
You could say why I don't move back to those older builds, but I can't, mainly because of needed security updates and the various differences in compatibility with MS, Apple, Linux, and Android newer OSes versions.
I also notice another minor issue when I set the 2.4Ghz Radio to a 20Mhz Channel Width, it still transmitting at 40Mhz;
Same for the other two 5Ghz Radios, I set any of them to 80Mhz and they are still at 40Mhz.
(For some reason I could upload/attach only three screenshots, so I collage 4 into 2 for this issue... for screenshots on the former issue I will need to revert to the older firmware.)
The only way to really get 20Mhz on the 2.4Ghz and 80Mhz on the 5Ghz Radios is to do not have the channel to Auto, but manually select one, reboot and then also go to the Wireless configuration page and save+apply_setting again otherwise only one of the two 5Ghz VAPs will be working... and this last part need to be repeated every time you reboot from CLI Console, or Web Interface, but not from OFF/ON Hardware Switch.
P.S.: I am been using DD-WRT since the early days of the WRT54 following this and other threads for the broadcom builds I tried (36247, 36330, 36410, 36527, 37305, 38159, 40559, 43718, 44715, 47720, 47745, 47822, 48540 and 50146), but did not want to post the problem I was having until I tested and compared with other builds to narrowed down a bit more... if you have any question or testing I can help with let me know... nothing is much too difficult... I worked in IT for 40 years 25 of which in 3 of the top 5 game companies... so just shoot.
P.P.S.: if there is not possible solution, which are the routers that DD-WRT (BS) target the development to, or the ones that would give me less problems.
P.P.P.S.: one thing I must say, that either the HTTPd is way, way... way more resilient, or the WebUI code is way, way... way better: Prior DD-WRT versions the WebUI would not only stop working, but the HTTPd would also completely crash and needed to be restarted manually, using CLI connection to the Router... for absolutely no detectable reasons... No way that those older versions of WebUI and HTTPd would stay up and alive bogged down as this one gets with this Broadcom NAS problem, in the high digit Load Averages and 100% busy CPU.
