Hello, DD-WRT community.
For a very long time I had a problem connecting to 5GHz.
My iPhones see all 5Ghz in different settings, but my laptops (Dell and Lenovo) sometimes either don't see 5Ghz or if they see i can't connect. It says: "Unable to connect"
I've noticed that my laptop (Dell and Lenovo) works on 5Ghz only if i put in a "network mode" NA-Mixed or Mixed.
After a little reading of the forum, and "playing around" with the settings, I "got" the 5Ghz to work.
At the moment, my firmware is: DD-WRT v3.0-r50012 std (08/31/22).
Below is my settings of 5Ghz:
I tried to stay on "channel 36" but 5Ghz did not work. Unable to connect.
I changed to "channel 40" and it works!
Question: this is the best settings in my case i mean speed/stability/settings or i should change something in order to force 5Ghz works more stable\faster etc?
I mean i don't understand any difference between Mixed or N/A Mixed or AC/N Mixed, it's like a "dark forest" for me.
I was just looking for a way to make it work, and I happened to "make" 5GHz work
Kind regards.

Some clients only like lower channels, I suggest 36-48 or 149-161 avoiding entire DFS range in between.
Wireless Security: Network Authentication WPA2 Personal & WPA Algorithm CCMP-128 only two checked?
No issues with Mixed wireless network mode, but I use Firmware Type VANILLA in advanced both radios.
Maybe upgrade to newest build available, then start over use factory defaults or nvram erase && reboot.

36 doesn't work work me. It says:"Unable to connect".
149 doesn't work work me. I even don't see 5Ghz network.
153 doesn't work work me. I even don't see 5Ghz network.
157 doesn't work work me. It says:"Unable to connect".
161 doesn't work work me. It says:"Unable to connect".
Only channels 40, 44, 48 works for me.

Yes.

I am sorry how to do nvram erase && reboot? Inside DD-WRT?
I just noticed / in your SSID name try removing it and any special characters.
Firmware Type is just under Advanced checkbox it is currently set to DD-WRT.
There's firmware type for both radios under each advanced settings checkbox.

You should use "AC/N" as network mode and not "N/A".
IEEE 802.11a is garbage no one needs that
As channel width 80Mhz
As channel you can test the following:
36+UU
52+UU
100+UU
116+UU
132+UU
149+UU
However, not all channels may be supported by your clients (clients have their own tables, sometimes not all channels are supported and sometimes they are bound to certain regulatory domains).
I can assure you that all channels work.
And this is not the problem of your router if some of your clients do not support all channels.
Still as hints:
The available channels and transmitting powers depend on the regulatory domain.
You have selected USA as domain.
You should change it to the country you are in.
Otherwise you may be using frequencies and channels that are not allowed in your country.
Agree with all that just to add there is no problem with default Mixed mode at all, basically means to allow all rates.
As long as you do not have some really old client and I mean ancient, or distant dragging down other clients with it.
Especially when troubleshooting compatibility issues can leave it on Mixed before attempting to cut off the old rates.
Anyway, some clients may actually need old garbage basic rates to connect for whatever specification reason YMMV.
New Build - 09/10/2022 - r50146 I really think it's time for you to webUI factory defaults or nvram erase && reboot.
For example, I do not have "LDPC (Disable for ESP8266)" listed at all. Also, other advanced options default for now.
If you are upgrading over wired Ethernet with webUI, keep the dropdown option selected do not reset.
First verify you are running new build, then consider webUI factory defaults or nvram erase && reboot.
I have been running r50146 on EA8500 for 8 hours now with no issues both radios and wired Ethernet.
