I know the feeling. I have a spare / retired router bin similar to yours. I was able to giveaway a bunch of DIR-615 though. They are very reliable, slow but reliable. I still have one in use as a WDS Station for a single wired client (Visa Machine).

My reason for this post:

D-Link DIR-862 A1
Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r49934 std (08/28/22)
Reset: No, hard reload of page / Private browser: Yes
Mode: Mesh
Issue: Wireless Security options missing on 862 but not on DIR-825 B1, which only has WPA3 + AES for some reason. For screenshot see page 3 of thread: New Build - 08/24/2022 - r49866 here: https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=332817&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=30
