Net gear 7800
Ddwrt r48954 5-23-22

My isp told me they upgraded my speed from 100/100 to 300/300. I was only pulling 90’s on speed tests. So I went through my settings and found vlan was set to auto-negotiate, with wan being 100, and lan being 1000. I changed the wan from auto to gigabit/full-duplex, at this point, now it won’t connect to my isp (dhcp).

I factory reset (3) and re-flashed my firmware(1) 4 times. It still will not connect to my wan, however, the wan vlan is showing 1000.

Any ideas on what else to try? If I connect the wan directly to my work meraki, that connects up just fine. So it appears to be an issue with just my ddwrt router.

Do not use the "switch config" tab at all.
After you have pressed 1x Save there, the switch configuration is changed.

Factory reset and then do not use the tab and do not press "save" at all.

That’s good to know.

Now that I’ve factory rest a number of times after making that change, why would it not be working now? I only touched that screen before doing any resets.

no idea maybe something forgotten to configure correctly (as it was before).

The switch configuration will be set to default after a reset.
I have done this several times, most recently yesterday.

Edit: auto negotation also works without problems.
if only 100mbit is reached, this is usually due to a bad cable.

Edit: the switch configuration can be displayed as follows

Code:
root@DD-WRT:~# swconfig dev switch0 show

VLAN 1:
   vid: 1
   ports: 1 2 3 4 6
VLAN 2:
   vid: 2
   ports: 0 5

So don’t click save on any menu? Only apply?

I’ve reset it again and will hook my wan line into the router over lunch and test it.

From my notes and the same applies to XR450/XR500, R7500 and Linksys EA8500

Quote:
As this is a two armed router (two physical CPU ports to the switch) it is behaving erratically when the GUI Switch Config is used.
So what ever happens DO NOT TOUCH the Switch Config tab (not after and not before midnight!)

This sounds like a bug that should be fixed

Yes it is a bug because it permanently changes the switch configuration and there is no GUI way to set the configuration back to "default".

But you have to convince the master first.

So am I going to have to try getting into telnet to fix this? Even after a factory rest, it’s still not connecting to my wan Sad

Hmm, I’ve no idea what else to try. The cable must be good, as it works when plugged into my works meraki.

When the sys log is enabled it says it finds no dnsmasq entires in the table, it’s always stated this. Should I add 8.8.8.8 to it for a test? I can try searching the forums for that command, if so.

Hit the resetbutton on the router whil it is running for about 10 seconds.
After that you should see by the lights of the router that it reboots

Then after about a minute reboot your attached PC.

Then goto http://192.168.1.1 and you should be greeted by the password login

It is better to copy the error message instead of paraphrasing it.
It would be best if you also show a screenshot of the "basic setup" tab.
And also describe to what the router is connected and how
