hello

my old netgear router is not working properly anyymore.

i want your help in knowing which router to buy.

i want it to be in the price range of 150-300 NIS.

i need it to have ddwrt support or similar firmware.

i don't care much about 5g..

please let me know which of these options might suit me if you have the knowledge.
https://www.zap.co.il/models.aspx?sog=c ... 773=140786

i didn't find much regarding to ddwrt support.

thanks

Your link is incomplete, cannot see the actual page you are linking and a search of that site in English didn't produce anything fruitful. Even searching Amazon (Egypt / Saudi Arabia) sites didn't come up with anything definite as far as versions of supported routers to recommend. Your best bet is to look at the Supported Devices Wiki for something available near you in your price range, such as the TL-WR841* or TL-WR940* unless you are looking for a VPN router, in which case you will most definitely have to spend more $$$ and get at least an Archer C7/A7 v5 (AC1750).

You could also tell us which old Netgear router you have, as it may be a matter of something that can be fixed rather easily or some other forum member may be interested in it.

That really is a huge step back compared to your current router

The R6700v3 is actually a very capable router, of course it can have a hardware defect although those routers (I have an R6400v2 which has the same hardware) are reasonable sturdy apart from an occasional power supply failure

I would first research what is the matter with your router if you have unexplainable failures/reboots I would try another power supply first.

Your question has already been answered a million times and is a sticky in this forum have a look. Smile

Although Broadcom has a bad name because it is not open source and kernel 4.4 will probably the last one, support will be there for the coming years and routers like the R6400v2, R6700V3, R7000, Asus AC68U are reliable workhorses with 128 MB flash and 256 MB RAM

Of course the darling of the community is the Netgear R7800 also very good OpenWRT support Smile

See the forum guidelines with helpful pointers about how to research your router, where and what firmware to download, where and how to post and many other helpful tips:

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to list the version number of any routers listed, so it's difficult to tell if any in those listings are currently supported.

It might be helpful to upgrade to the current release and do a reset and re-configure, posting screenshots of your configurations. The other problem, as already suggested, could be related to the power adapter. Israel being 240V and infrastructure stability being a factor and not knowing if any surge suppression has been in place, that would be a possible culprit.

TP-Link TL-WR841HP

Support for the v3 was added, but no success stories:
TP-Link WR841HP Atheros QCA9533-BL3A

The V1 is RealTek, which will never be supported (mods, please lock and move first in list to General Questions forum):
NEW router TL-WR841HP anyone got any HW info?
WR841HP v1 DD-WRT
ddwrt for wr841hpv1

The V2 never garnered any attention:
TP Link - WR841HP v2 similar firmware

The V5 was inquired about, but nothing came of it (mods, please move to the Ralink SoC based Hardware forum):
TP-Link WR841HP V5 MediaTek MT7628N | Is there any firmware?

In short, the Supported Devices Wiki is usually more up-to-date with information on supported devices than the router database. In conclusion, as already noted, any of those options may be a step down from your current device, if in fact it is salvageable.

ok..
so i've a question.
my r6700v3 with dd-wrt doesn't respond to me opening 192.168.100.1 in the browser even after me resetting the devices with the reset button pressed for 10 seconds.

can anything be done in that circumstance?

tnx
ps.
i've downloaded "Netgear R6400v2 (R6700v3, XR300) Guide v 1.18.doc" but from what i'm understanding i need it to first respond in the browser..

there are no reboots or other problems other than it doesn't opened in the broser and has no internet connection or wifi..

and i don't have much money to invest.
i'm thinking on waiting in case i will order from abroad.

The default IP of DD-WRT's webUI is 192.168.1.1; if you've changed it to 192.168.100.1 that is usually the backend IP of ISP equipment, specifically cable modems or combination modems/routers. Keep in mind that if your R6700v3 is behind an upstream ISP device whose webUI / LAN IP address is 192.168.1.x, then you need to change the DD-WRT LAN IP to another subnet such as 192.168.2.x, otherwise Internet will not be available.

Make sure your your browser is not trying to access https://192.168.1.1 (Secure)
rather than http://192.168.1.1 (no "S")
