I'm planning on getting a router for DDWRT. I have 10mbps max down and there are 4 people in my household. I'd like to limit their streaming services and up the priority on gaming systems in the house to stop lag so the kids will stop complaining about their games ping lagging. Does DDWRT support this? Does QOS work to remove ping issues by giving required bandwidth to games instead of giving it to anything else? Can I reserve bandwidth for these systems to equally divvy up the wifi connection between my kids?
I'd like to limit the ROKU TV to 4mbps max. I'd like the consoles to have priority over the Roku and if they're playing, they're recieving packets and not dropping any or experiencing latency.
DD-WRT does have QoS, but YMMV, especially on such a low bandwidth connection:
