https://github.com/vortex-5/ddwrt-bwmon and maybe use a native file system ext4.

Have you tried using Administration -> Commands -> Save USB instead of using the automount / autostart / run-on-mount script option? It might be more reliable.

https://github.com/vortex-5/ddwrt-bwmon wrote:
Set the automount script on the router (Under your router's web gui's Services -> USB) to point to /path/bwmon/startup.sh to autostart this script on mount or just run the startup.sh script manually if you don't wish to start on system bootup.

In other words, instead of setting /path/bwmon/startup.sh on the Services -> USB tab in the automount script input box, use Administration -> Commands -> Save USB. Also ext4 is probably more reliable than NTFS, as already suggested. It looks as if the only recent activity on bwmon besides a bug fix because of the new 404 page is 13 months old. That is a -long- time to go without testing for problems.

Im not sure how the save to USB and others fairs against service restarts which happen when a user clicks the APPLY button.

What I know is the Save As Firewall survives services restart.

NTFS drives can be flagged as "dirty" very easily , after a power loss or even after a reboot.

That means the drive will not mount until chkdsk is run you have to do it from a windows PC.

You better use ext2/ext4
