The crossing midnight workaround using two separate rules has always been true and I was reluctant to think that manipulating nvram variables manually would fix it. I can't remember if this is a carryover bug from stock Linksys / HyperWRT / Sveasoft original source code. Having original non-precompiled-binary httpd / rc / etc. source tree from Linksys would be a big help to look into this (hint, hint).
