Question I have the Linksys WRT1900acs v.2 router configuered with latest ddwrt firmware as a VPN router via IPVANISH.

After approx 6 months it stoped working as a VPN router and funtions as a normal router connected to my ISP. I can not connect to any VPN server it only connects to my ISP inlcding giving out my IP and ISP info when going into sites like

https://www.iplocation.net/

I did contact my vpn provider but they has no clude why I could no longer connect to them?

I checked all the configs as a vpn router and it all looks fine aprt from non loinger workig as VPN?

I tried to re-flash but still the same problems?

Also how can i do a hard reset on the router as i belive its ARM based processor but has no WPS button as mentined on this forum for arm processors?

Unfortunately you were posting in the wrong forum.

No problem as I will transfer this thread to the right forum for you Smile
(either you should have posted in the Marvell forum for router specific questions or in the Advanced Networking forum for VPN specific questions)

See the forum guidelines with helpful pointers about how to research your router, where and what firmware to download, where and how to post and many other helpful tips:
https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=324087

You state latest build, the latest build is 49531 is that the one you are running?

If not upgrade and after upgrading reset to defaults (from the GUI: Administration/Factory Defaults, or while the router is running hit the reset button for about ten seconds)

After resetting put settings in manually never restore from a backup (to a different build)

OpenVPN documentation is a sticky in the Advanced Networking forum, the OpenVPN Client setup guide will have instructions how to setup also some specific for IPvanish:

Thanks I have it all working now taking your advise, fingers crossed hoping it dose not happen again.
I thiught I had the latest firmware as thats whats available under the router database but like you say apprently not.
May be its worj taking that databse off to stop downloading the wrking firmware versin as it could be miss leading.

What I need to kwow is the latest vpn congeration as the ipvanish router setup seems out dated compared to option available on latest DD-WRT firmaware for that router?

I need to find out why I cannot stream iptv via router but I can via the ipvanih app?

The Client Setup guide has updated settings for IPVanish have a look there.

You have to be more specific what you mean by not being able to stream iptv.

Is there a link for the client setup for ipvanish as I could not find it?

In terms of iptv what I have noticed is that the streams work when going thru isp router but when going thru linksys 1900 ddwrt router it continously buffers when using apps like tivimate or iptv smarters pro on samsung tvs.
On the the tivimate app I get error 401 message.
I tried both Nvida Sheild and latest Firestick 4k conected to the ddwrt router using wfi and netwrk cable still the same problem when going thru ddwrt?

I have atached screenshots but in sections as its the only way i could fit it all in.

I have followed the setup from IPVANISH and necessary changes requried on IPVANISH routers mentined on this forums guidance notes as below:

IPVanish
https://support.ipvanish.com/hc/en-us/articles/115002080733-DD-WRT-v3-Router-Setup

But change the following:

Basic Setup page:
Use for Static DNS 1 and 2 your normal trusted DNS servers e.g. 9.9.9.9, 1.1.1.1 and not the one advised by IPVanish

OpenVPN setup page Tunnel Protocol: UDP4 Compression: No Tunnel MTU setting: 1400
Verify Server Cert. :Enabled/ticked
Do not put anything in the Additional Config but: verb 5

I know, and I can connect to vpn servers.

Im just baffled why I can not stream IPTV through a Ipvanish VPN router setup but on an ISP connected router I can including using a VPN app on individaul android devices.

Somthing is not right abouy the router setup as this never happned before.

That looks good.

A few things you can try, regarding your problems with streaming media:

1. Inquire with your ISP if there are different servers for streaming media and or try different servers.
2. Disable SFE (ShortCut Forwarding Engine) on Setup page
3. Use TCP4 as Tunnel Protocol instead of UDP4
4. If you want to use UDP4 play with MTU settings normally when streaming is a problem MTU is too high, you can try MTU 0 (which means automatic) or MTU 1280 and see what works better

I tried all above and connected to diffrent vpn servers too, but still the same problem the stream will not start and continousy buffers?

I could try the IPVANISH router SETUP as per thier recomendations which would be slightly difrent to whats recomended on ts forums

In this stage you can try anything Smile

I do not have IPVanish so your guess is as good as mine.

I have KeepSolid, Mullvad and Proton (free account) and have no problems with either with streaming media and I am running build 49590 on a NetGear R6400v2 which is a lower specced router than yours.

If everything else fails consider resetting to defaults and put settings in manually, never restore from a backup (to a different build)

I tried the IPVANISH way of setting it up and also contacted there tech support but they have no idea whats going on.

On this forum on the the DDWRT setup guide you sent a link. Othere is says not to use static DNS 8888 or the cert keys provided by IPVanish but use Verb 5 as the key.Is there a reason for thiS?
