I already had this problem in the past and found a solution on this forum. Unfortunately I can't find it now. I know I found a link in one of the posts that got me to the answer...

What happened is that my WiFi works without security enabled. When I enable it it stops working.

Explanation I remember is that part of a memory where password is stored it corrupted in some way and need to be deleted with a command(Administration -> Commands). Can anyone help me find a original post or know a command?

What router model and build of dd-wrt?

Depends on the drivers. Please post in the hardware specific forum for your router model (Atheros, Broadcom, Marwell etc.)

I would not advise using Administration -> Commands tab; instead use telnet or (preferably) ssh via PuTTY or Linux/MacOS terminal instead.
Code:
nvram show | grep wpa_psk | sort
nvram unset (interface name)_wpa_psk
nvram commit
reboot

Wifi stopped working, Transmitted (TX), 0 OK, 8754 errors!

If you already have access to the webUI, you should be able to undo your configurations that way.

It is also advisable to upgrade to the current release:

https://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2022/06-19-2022-r49268/broadcom/

Mods, please move to Broadcom.

Perhaps you have a WRT54GL?

Will transfer this to the Broadcom forum.

See the forum guidelines with helpful pointers about how to research your router, where and what firmware to download, where and how to post and many other helpful tips:

Your build is very old and has security issues.

Unless you are using the VPN I would consider updating to a recent build (as of now 49268).

*After* update reset to defaults and put settings in manually then you can start with a clean slate and new passwords

Thanks!

That looks about right from what I remember...

I need to change nvram unset (interface name)_wpa_psk to nvram unset wl0_wpa_psk right?

Correct. Also, to note: don't mix tkip and WPA/WPA2 for wireless security; this may break your wifi. You can also forget network on any wireless clients and re-try authentication.

Thanks! Commands helped... As for a upgrade... I will not do that unless absolutely necessary since it took me some time to find a version that works with everything I need. When I was setting up this I know some versions didn't work with my Phone PPTP and/or ADSL...
