My home network has 3 WAP's - one R7000 and 2 WAC124's all running DD-WRT build 48646. If I Telnet into either of the WAC124's I can retrieve the list of associated clients on an interface using the wl_atheros assoclist command. I can then use the iw dev station dump command to retrieve more information on each of the clients.

On the R7000 I use the wl assoclist command to retrieve the client list but I cannot find a command that will return details for a client. (I am specifically interested in the UpTime of the client's association with the AP). I have tried using wl sta_info <macaddr> but have been unable to get it to work, I always get the response :-

wl -i eth1 sta_info 20:F8:5E:3B:99:EF
set: error parsing value "20:F8:5E:3B:99:EF" as an integer for set of "sta_info"
var unrecognized name, type -h for help

Can anyone please tell me if the sta_info command is supported and if so what is its correct usage?

Is there an alternative command that will allow me to retrieve the uptime for a wireless client?

Note, I'm running in AP mode so no DHCP information is available from the device.

Thanks
Mike

Just bumping this up to get some extra eyes.

Can anyone please tell me how to get details of an associated wireless client, when the mac address is known, using the command line. I am specifically looking for the length of time the client has been associated with the AP.

This is for a Netgear R7000 running DD-WRT r48646.

Thanks
Mike

LoL = Last one Laughing

wl docs and wl in dd-wrt will likely never match.

Forget it, wl is not even close to matching the docs, the utility is 500KB normally dd-wrt's is 30Kb all unnecessary stuff has been removed.

enter wl cmds for what is supported

Thanks for the manual, interesting stuff.
The command I need is wl sta_info (page 42 of the manual) but it appears to be unsupported on this platform. It doesn't appear in the list of commands (wl cmds) and trying to get help for it results in the following.

~root@R7000-LR:~# wl -h sta_info
wl: Unrecognized command "sta_info", type -h for help

Bummer.

Like I said, wl is 500KB utility normally, dd-wrt's version is 30KB so good luck with that.

So how does one go about asking for support for the wl sta_info command to be added?

You Just did, but dont count on it, its small on purpose to suit all targets, think routers which dont have enough flash space.

Bumping this up again. I would really appreciate it if you would add support for the wl sta_info command.
Failing that can anyone describe a way using the command line how I can determine the length of time a given WiFi device has been associated with the AP. Assume the mac address of the device is known.

Thanks
Mike
