Hi guys. I'm trying to set up a wind scribe VPN on my router with dd-wrt. I did everything according to the instructions as here - https://windscribe.com/guides/ddwrt , in the state shows that the connection is successful, but as I understand the packets are not transmitted, there is no Internet. Can anybody help me?

do not use compression (comp-lzo) it never plays good

Welcome to the forum

Unfortunately you are using an old and outdated build with security issues.

I would strongly recommend upgrading to a recent build (49212 as of now)

*After* upgrade reset to defaults and put settings in manually, never restore from a backup (to a different build)

You need the OpenVPN Client setup guide

The windscribe instructions are outdated but not half bad.

Make sure to set Compression to DISABLED and if that still not get you Internet access set compression to NO

If it still does not work post screenshots of OpenVPN setup page and contents of additional config, and OpenVPN status page (whole page)

I observe constant disconnection of vpn connections on my PC. I have entry in hosts file in Windows for my work VPN, can I do something about it?

Everything is going through the tunnel, that is what the "Route all sources via the VPN" means

If your PC also has a VPN then it might not work properly. Running a tunnel inside another tunnel can be problematic.

You can try to lower the MTU settings of the VPN on the PC or exclude the PC's IP address from the routers VPN.

See the paragraph about Policy Based Routing (PBR)


Edit: alternatively route that specific IP address of the work VPN through the WAN, add in additional config:

It is not very clear what you want.

Does your PC has its own VPN running on the PC?

If so disable it, the router now handles the VPN.

If the PC needs another VPN then the router is running e.g. a VPN to your company then either on the router exclude the PC from the routers VPN or route the destination of the work VPN via the WAN as explained in my former post.


Furthermore define frequent disconnects how do you notice that?

There is company VPN on my PC and it is limited to one location, so I tried to set up a VPN on the router to change the location
