I use PPPoE myself and have only recently played around with it excessively.
I could not find any problems so far.
may be related to your wireguad configuration.
I do not use wireguard or vpn
Thanks for providing a starting point, did disable Wireguard, but still the same. so I did a router reset (nvram erase command).
My setup -
ONU provided by ISP -> R7800 -> laptop (Wired) & mobiles (4Nos), TV wireless
ISP needs a PPPoE connection using Uername & password.
I did a reset using WbGUI for R7800 then setup following
setup PPPoE using userid n password provided by ISP, enabled SSH, set wireless to DDWRT country India, changed SSID & wireless key, added Static lease infor using additional DNSMasq options (dhcp-host=). All other things are at default.
saved all settings & reboot the router. everything works fine and clients are able to access internet.
Now If ONU powers off- after a time period I can see PPPoE disconnected in DD-WRT status page for WAN. when ONU powers up, PPPoE gets connected and I can see it in status page also shows proper IP & DNS details (I have got static IP assigned by ISP) from ISP, but I am not able to get internet from any client. If I reboot internet is available.
this happens even if there is disconnection due to ISP issue even when ONU is still powered on
I don't really have an idea.
But I would check in WebIF under "Status > WAN" if IP address, DNS and Gateway are correct.
Is this IPv4 or IPv6?
You are also assigned a public IP?
I use PPPoE with a VDSL2 modem and have IPv6 disabled.
I had played around with PPPoE a bit the other day.
Several times disconnected (status > WAN > disconnect > reconnect .. etc).
Also disconnected the WAN cable etc.

It works if I use connect / disconnect on WAN status page. there are absolutely no issues.
Internet issue is only when PPPoE connection is lost from ISP end or ONU end and when its back online (i.e. after DD-wrt router) and not due to any dd-wrt router functions/actions.
No complaints with vanilla enabled. No 5G lag even when in far room with signal quality < 50%. _________________ ARCHER-C7v5 | v3.0-r54604 std | AP Gateway

Status: Bug in web Interface - Wireless/Basic Settings
I can't set my Wireless/Basic settings any more, as no Save/Apply button is showing up on that tab anymore, tried 3 different browsers, see attachment.
No selection of network mode on the Wil6210 interface possible. What can I do? Tried several factory resets. It's also strange that always when I go to Basic Wireless settings and want to change to other settings afterwards, the web interface hangs/is not reachable for a while

I've seen this on the R9000 in earlier builds, it happened to me. This seems to be caused by corrupted or garbage settings in nvram. The fix is to erase nvram, reboot, and then enter your settings manually. A bit of a pain but it does clean up nvram and fixes the issue. I went through this exercise last month for the 5/31/2022 build and all issues cleared up for me. _________________ Netgear R9000

The lack of controls is likely due to bad initialization (cant tell without serial logs), the reset to defaults has been reported as a solution as long as it is followed by a manual reconfiguration from scratch. Some R9000 just work while others seems to choke, idk why and cant guess whats going on without serial logs.

If you are pressing apply, then services restart and amongst these is the network, so loss to ui for the time services are restarting is to be expected. end of.
I can't even press apply, as there is no apply button LOL... Still web interface hangs when I go from Basic Wireless settings to any other settings page. I will try NVRAM reset as mentioned before, thanks.
