Have a Dlink DIR-882 and was looking at the procedure of flashing it from the Dlink firmware, including crash recovery. During crash recovery, one uploads the factory-to-ddwrt.bin.

There is a post https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=330118&highlight=dir882+double from kernel-panic69 indicating that the router doesn't require double flashing. I assume by double flashing is that numerous posts on this forum and elsewhere indicate that once you upload the above bin file that one should then upload dlink-dir882-webflash.bin.

The use of the webflash bin is unnecessary for this router. Is this correct?

I assume that once one uploads the factory-to-ddwrt.bin via crash recovery then you can use firmware such as the R47474 etc or other stable firmware for this router and that is acceptable?

Ill try to make this clear.

factory-to-dd-wrt file is to flash the device from STOCK fw to the version of DD_WRT the factory to dd-wrt file was downloaded from OK?

The web flash IS not needed in this process at all.

If you use the latest dd-wrt version -r48971 factory-to-ddwrt file YOU WILL already have the latest firmware flashed.

WHEN and ONLY WHEN a new version of DD-WRT comes out you use the webflash to upgrade DD-WRT old version to new dd-wrt version...

The ONLY supported firmware for any router is the latest version only -r48971 is the latest right now.

http://ftp.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2022/05-26-2022-r48971/

Any older builds are filled with unpatched exploits, old drivers old libraries old kernels and are not recommended or supported.

Ok gotcha. I looked at the links you provided and that helped as well. One flash is all that is needed from factory to current build.

Thanks for the clarification.
