Welcome to Atheros r48971 beta release thread for reporting, feedback to developers and community benefit.
Please do not flash builds until installation is understood, risks involved and device specificrecovery methods.
Avoid discussions, create threads for questions, general problems or use search; this thread is not for support.
Please list router model & revision, operating & wireless mode(s) and exact filename/firmware image flashed.
Issues, observations, and/or workarounds reported:
• WebUI: Clear history or use a portable. Temporary cache bypass: Ctrl+F5, Cmd+Shift+R or new private window/incognito.
• Please report findings with steps needed to reproduce, configuration, clients, output, logs and important information below!
Important:
• Detail issues & relevant configs, logs: syslog klog 'dmesg' 'cat /tmp/var/log/messages' nvram set console_debug=1, serial.
• Firewall NAT: 'iptables -vnL' 'iptables -t nat -vnL' 'iptables -t mangle -vnL' & 'cat /tmp/.ipt'. Misc: stracetcpdumpwireshark.
• Gremlins: reboot. cold boot. Reset & reconfigure not restore backup. Search Trac & discuss in forum before opening tickets.
• Include operating & wireless modes (e.g. Gateway, Router, AP, CB, WDS, Mesh) and applicable configurations to reproduce.
TBH When I look up this router it comes up it has a 4MB flash the r48971 is 3.717KB while the r48897 is 3.709KB so both should fit.
If you want to know for sure whats what, flash via CLI, look at the erased block addresses vs the written block addresses and see what the last written block was and see how many blocks were erased after the last writen block of same address to determine how many blocks you have available.
When erasing all the available blocks are erased.
When writing only the needed blocks are written.
Without rebooting: flashing the current r48971 build, copy output to file, then straight after without rebooting flash the build r48897 that works? Copy output to file and check, and grab both output and open a new thread attaching outputs as text files.
I written it that way around so on reboot you have the same r48897, but feel free to flip the order, just remember when you reboot it should apply the last build flashed.

GUI over 48954
Reset: no
Issues: none
GUI upgrade from r48897, all succeed but still on r48897.
CLI same.
My way for CLI:
scp whr*.bin root@192.168.1.1:/tmp
ssh root@192.168.1.1
cd /tmp
mv whr*.bin firmware.bin
Then keep on waiting, it will automatic upgrade.
But still R48897.
My device is Buffalo AIR Station WHR-G300NV2.
On linux PC or Windows PC same result.
At last, firefox v100.x cannot be used to post any content in ddwrt forum.

I use Firefox 100.0.2 (64-bit) and it works for posting here just fine no matter OS.
as for the rest, lovely numbers but no CLI flashing logs documenting anything possibly indicative of what could be it, but since its not size for sure, then a nice question mark shall remain until such time in future that some build may or not fix it.

It would help to do a manual CLI upgrade to get the information as I don't think that the automatic upgrade logs anything helpful other than pass or fail (?). _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"
