... the initial SSID issue and missing controls missing UI elements are only symptoms of what I believe is some sort of failed initialization on boot.
I'll need to find out a neat way (i.e. not copy & paste screens) to capture R9000 Syslog in a text file (sans details such as MAC addresses and so on) before sending it in. (I presume Syslog is what's asked here. I don't know everything under the Sun).
Regarding the potential issue of failed initialization on boot, my wild guess would be that some internal DDWRT sequential settings for R9000, at boot, might be a touch too short resulting in the incomplete GUI, and related issues. In my case, a SECOND software reboot of my R9000 (after some changes made to the Router's settings) always brings it back to normal. Without fail. I spelled this issue out in a 5-page article on 'VLAN Detached Networks on R9000'. I have been running multiple VLANS on its normal LAN ports with no issue for weeks now. _________________ Life is a journey; travel alone makes it less enjoyable and lonely.
That screenshot came from this thread https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1121874 and since I'm not familiar with your router, I state this is for illustration purposes only. That means for you to have some idea what going on, not to use that until its confirmed.
Once all the wires are connected to the serial adapter you need to configure putty to open a serial console connection to router.
IDK if there are any more detailed how tos, maybe wait for someone who know where this is to inform you.

Im sure the info exists,....
Thank you for the reply.
I had some free time earlier this month and spent very much all of it on resolving the VLANing issues on R9000. So unfortunately, i donot feel like undertaking another one at this stage. Sorry.
I think you're very passionate about what you want to do. It's a very good trait to have, if i can put it that way. But frustration can also creep up behind you, at the same time. I'm 60+ and i find i do not have as much passion as i did when young, like you now. How many readers of DD-WRT forums are over 60 years old? So be easy on people like me.
Some of things you mentioned re updating kernel, libraries and so on like ...water off a duck's back on me. As said earlier, i do not know everything that i want to know. But i sincerely thank you for keeping them up to date for the benefits of DD-WRT users.
Wishing you a great day. _________________ Life is a journey; travel alone makes it less enjoyable and lonely.

You aren't very far ahead of me years wise OK I'm 50+ now. Not that age matters to me personally, anyway I digress. I hope you dont feel I overstepped in a non constructive way.
I fully understand your points and its perfectly OK to have different ideas or interests and whatever else is different, please dont feel you have to do this. I would ask you to allow me to clarify why that suggestion of serial logs.
In trying to establish any possible causes for these partially and possible failed initialization (I dont know how else to describe this accuratly with the current information I have to work with), only the serial logs can have this information, perhaps dmesg or syslogs (maybe) could have some clues largely they dont in DD-WRT, regular Linux is another matter, DD-WRT side, serial logs tell a more detailed story whats going on behind the curtains until a certain point that neither dmesg or syslogs do.
Without this information or any other information that could help make a more educated determination, it's all guess work. And it could turn out to be totally unhelpful in the end, I dont know for sure.
So and to end as I mean to go on, and understanding your last reply 100% and without prejudice to you at all, I can only wish you good luck trying to get to the bottom of it.
Mlandi had these issues and managed to get past them, so I hope you can too in some way.
I'll keep an eye on this thread as I have interest only in what finally ends up being the solution and hope it is an happy one.
I had this same exact issue with my r9000. I think some of my issues arrived out of me using apply button enstead of save. But I would like to thank everyone that contributed to this post.It answered a lot of questions I had.Appreciate all the insight into ther9000.

Could this be for use to solving the "problem". Below a part of the syslog after entering the wireless tab in ddwrt 49113 on Netgear R9000. Last bin without this problem was the 48810. When I don't use that tab I didn't read this part in the logfiles. Thanks for helping

Hi there,
The update 49212 fixed the problem with the wireless tab page (no buttons to be seen). For the update I used windows 11 with the edge browser. Earlier, when the defect still existed I tried the update and with windows 11 edge browser and with windows 10 with edge and brave browser. Now everything is doing as it should be, great work, thanks for all the efforts.
