I worked through setting up a WG server on one router and a WG client on a second router. However, I really need to upgrade my routers to a newer build than what I have.

My concern is upgrading without losing the WG setup on both routers.

Are the WG parameters all saved as 'oetx' entries in nvram? If so, that would be a good way to save them off and use nvram set, then commit to add back in.

I've seen egc has commented and presume he is knowledgeable.

TIA

You should state the router brand and model and your current firmware revision.

egc is whom I consider our resident expert on tunneling, however he is traveling atm.

You can also open a terminal to dd-wrt and run nvram show | grep oetx

Also you can do more than that, running nvram show > /tmp/backup-human-readable.txt then grab that file to your desktop via scp of sftp, it will have all your current settings in a human readable format for later consultation.

You can also, take screenshots of your setup pages or print them to pdf which should contain text to be able to copy and paste after the fact.

So various options available to you.

Thanks

Had 44715 on my Netgear R7000 with basic setup and wireless configured.

I know about terminal commands.

I tried the two latest builds, 48886 and 48897. Could not connect to the internet once configured. I have nothing unusual for my basic setup and wireless settings.

At any rate I reverted to 44715 and restored my backup. I think I'm done with this for now.

Thanks for all of the suggestions and hints.

Your current build is too ancient over two years old, you will need to do a nvram reset after upgrading and reconfigure from scratch, dd-wrt has had many changes since your build, which is now truly unsupported and contains security issues galore.

Not to mention wireguard has been overhauled in current dd-wrt releases and other tunneling fixes as well.
