Welcome to forums.

Your question has been answered https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1260790#1260790, this explains how to use adguard.

But to clarify it cannot be installed as is from that page, DD-WRT supports entware packages, so you would need to find a trustworthy and up to date package to install.
There are plenty guides on how to setup and use entware on DD-WRT, please search.

There are another (at least) 10 threads on adguard, please search.

Have a nice day.

Nextdns which is somewhat similar, is available as Entware package and can also be installed directly from:

https://github.com/nextdns/nextdns/wiki/DDWRT

I am running it, a slightly adapted version to use a USB stick, (I am not a fan of using the routers own flash as permanent storage) and in tandem with DNSMasq.

Is it because constant rewriting blocking rules might not be good to the router flash memory?

That is one aspect, but if you only use it to store some settings and do not write often than that should be no problem,
The other thing is that the one router I bricked while upgrading had JFFS2 enabled and that was indeed the problem back then, nowadays you should be good.

But why run the risk if you can use a USB stick Smile
