When myn MAC wakes from sleep, it seems to immediatly connect to the ac wireless, a few secxonds later it drops the connection, reconnects , requests new ip from dhcp, and is good to go till next sleep cycle.
Any ideas whats causing this, or is it some bonehead MAC thing?

Sleep cycles no matter the machine, has always had issues, because the state is saved to RAM and restoring the state is not always good for all components, due to in my experience after such resume takes place the various components try to sync to a state that was saved that doesn't agree with the actual state on resume, Ive seen video issues on resume and all sorts of other quirks, peripherals not working and random other bits, no matter brand.
It would seem that you sleep the machine when radio is connected, but during sleep, it actually disconnects, then you wake it up, resumes the state assuming its connected and realizes oh shit, I'm not connected anymore obviously, then it either does what you experience, or resumes into a non working state or some gremlin induced state.
All and all, not surprising, and tbh I dont recommend sleep states for anything, you are gaining except perhaps a few seconds over a cold boot, but power consuming on sleep is still higher than powered off, and unless your machine is really slow from cold boot, you are literally swapping higher energy bills for the difference of time from cold boot.

IP address obtained from any DHCP server including DD-WRT has a lease time. Maybe the IP lease expired when your Mac woke up, so it obtained the IP again (renewal)? Usually, the Mac will get the same IP again, based on the MAC address of the network interface.
I think the default lease time is 3600 seconds?

The reason i asked, was the unit is connected and passing traffic correctly for a few seconds PRIOR to the reset. Only the MAC does this. And it only begun on 5-13 build
That being said, you can close this, i upgraded to the 5-16 build and the bhaviour seems to have stopped.

Nothing changed DHCP wise between those builds in DD-WRT. Any updates Papple side?
You will notice generally inconsistent waking from sleep and when the sync is complete between the saved sleep state and the actual state after its fully resumed.
Currently dnsqmasq is a test build in DD-WRT this means no guarantees it will behave the same always DD-WRT side.
That said, keep an eye on it just for the sake of seeing how it behaves in the long term. Nothing to worry about though if it repeats, let the server and client butt heads all they like.
