Update method: SSH / CLI
Router/Version: Netgear R9000 Nighthawk X10
File/Kernel: 05/13/2022 - r48865(05/06/22)
Previous/Reset: DD-WRT v3.0-r48810 std / No
Mode/Status: Gateway / FAILED
Issues/Errors: CRITICAL ISSUE

After flashing, the R9000 would not finish the reboot. A factory reset did bring the router online with the new version. I tried to restore my settings backup from r48865 but on reboot the router hung. I factory reset again, flashed back to r48810 and restored my backup. All is normal now.

Either I had an unusual, unique issue updating or there is a problem with r48865 on the Netgear R9000.

BE CAREFUL WITH THIS UPDATE IF YOU HAVE A R9000

RobrPatty if you read carefully MLandi post, you would find its a bad fash/setup, as unit is operational after reset...ill try this build soon, on Monday...probb other users will try it too...anyway...
Bad flash, no reboot could be due to bad settings, as well tons of other things...
If im not wrong, BS still uses/tests builds on R9000 too...unless he moved to another router... Rolling Eyes
At the end of the day MLandi did not provide any logs, setup announcements and ect. so not very useful flash/report..
I guess he has his own reasons..in fact R9000 has TFTP, so its brick resistant Razz

I had to recover quickly because I needed the router to work from home. I'll give it another try this weekend and see if I have issues. Logs would have been difficult because the router was not functional; nothing would connect. Again, I was in a hurry so I restored, made my report and got to work.

Do you know a way I can get log data from the router if it crashes? As for setup, my signature has a lot of detail and I do report that I update via the command line. I'd like to provide as much info as possible.

1. via remote log management - https://www.papertrail.com/
2. via "Visual Syslog server" free program, the one i used in the past
3. there was a script that saves backup of "cat /tmp/var/log/messages" at /opt or /jffs, via cron time commands by your choice, have a deep look at the forum

@MLandi a direct way of logging is with a TTL serial adapter, if you want greater chance of capturing a crash.

General advice, reboot before trying a reset. Cold boot aka hard boot: power off, wait some time, power on.
