Thanks for that link for 05/13/22 beta builds. I am now looking at DD-WRT.v24_mini_WRT54GSv4.bin

Under 'Administration', I found the place to effect a firmware upgrade. Must I first to a 30/30/30 reset, or can I simply upgrade the firmware without doing that??

Ok, are you flashing a WRT54G v4 or WRT54GS v4? Because you have stated *twice* that it was a WRT54G v4:

The problem is, when you request a list of firmware for the WRT54G v4, you get this:

Keep in mind that all firmware for WRT54* and clones that are not micro builds will not be the version number listed from 48494 forward. This will be fixed in the next release / tomorrow (not sure if BS meant that he will be uploading the correct images or not).

OK ... to be clear, my serial number (CDFA...)corresponds with WRT54G v4:

https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linksys_Serial_numbers

With that in mind, which of the 48865 files (*.bin) would you recommend?

And again, must I first 30/30/30 reset or can I upgrade without doing that?

You're supposed to flash the mini_generic.bin to this device.

Reset generally not required unless you run into issues. In that event, do a hard reset and re-configure from scratch. Again, keep in mind, the file will be an older build until next release / unless BS uploads corrected images to 48865 folder.

yields the 2008 build I am using, which someone said was not a good build. I guess I'll wait to see if 'BS' comes up with a correction to the v48865 set.

I'm just wanting to flash with the latest & greatest for my unit.

Thanks EGC. In that list, I see:

DD-WRT.v24_mini_wrt54G.bin
DD-WRT.v24_mini_wrt54GS.bin
DD-WRT.v24_mini_wrt54GSv4.bin

Does this mean that I would choose the first one for my v4?
I'm guessing so.

dd-wrt.v24_mini_generic.bin as stated in the wiki:

https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linksys_WRT54G_v4.0

9. Navigate to the folder that you are using, and select dd-wrt.v24_mini_generic.bin

OK Thanks Kernel-panic69. I think I got it.

I'll update the firmware to DD-WRT.v24_mini_generic.bin in that list.

P.S.
I would think there would be a place in the control panel to reveal what firmware is currently installed. I checked the "Administration' tab but don' see any such place.

Any thoughts?

The far upper right-hand corner should display build number, mini and date. Also, see Status -> Router tab.

OK ... looks like the upgrade to DD-WRT.v24_mini_generic.bin from the v48865 build list (05/16/22) was successful. Previous settings were retained.

Thanks for all the help, tips, pointers, admonitions, and hand-holding on this forum. I now have a repeater/bridge (repurposed WRT54G router) and very strong signal within my home. Very Happy
