Could someone with knowledge on Atheros WiSOC chipset kindly answer the questions below:

-> swconfig dev switch0 set enable_vlan 1

1. What is the purpose of this command?; and

2. Can it be applied to other VLANs, for example: VLAN 2, VLAN 3 and so on. Alternatively, what 1 represents?

Been doing some research on a related issue but found no fruitful answer so far.

Someone on the forum may know, surely.

Thank you.

To my knowledge it is to enable VLANs.
1 = enabled
0 = disabled

Thanks so much, egc.

I thought that might have been the case but was not totally sure in trying to resolve a related issue in Netgear R9000.

Coincidentally, i was trying to simplify the CLI commands that i used in Startup section to make VLANs work on Netgear R9000 (I am far from being an expert of the syntax).

As a matter of fact, i have had 4 VLANs (across both switches) working fine together with vAPs on my R9000 as a standalone gateway router for the last couple of days now. While still in my lab, i believe it's ready for production deployment if i want to. Without the need of secondary devices such as a switch or modifying nvram as someone had done.

Thanks again.

Interesting, rumor has it that the R9000 is very difficult with VLANs.

So looking forward to it Smile

This is exactly what I was going to post, but chose not to considering information in these wikis that conflicts (see second link in particular):

A Netgear R9000 came into my possession about three weeks ago from my relative in the US. So i went on a search for its available features. And frustration led me take it up as a challenge. Reading various posts with perseverance and nearly 2 weeks later, i was able to tame the Dual-Switch BEAST of R9000.

Still on my final leg of 'consistency and quality'. My time as Beta tester for a router company on commission helps tackling it. Will send you a 'What-i-did' in steps, when ready, if you like.

BTW, I am looking for some info, or examples on the 'Routing Policies' section, under Setup/Advanced Routing tabs of DDWRT. If you can help, that would be great.

In my trial-and-error attempts of VLANing on the R9000, it seemed, at first, to be of some variable value in R9000. But later trials excluded it. I just wanted to set my mind at my rest. So thanks.

yep that would be great i know how to setup vlans on my R7800 via start up commands very well but, on my R9000 my attempt it was a mess, so if you can share the effort and we can learn it...

When I tried VLANS on R9000 there was some obscure bit's to me, how those x2 switches(Switch: 2x Qualcomm Atheros QCA8337N) interact with CPU ports...there used to be a nice diagram on R9000 switches and ports posted by ho1Aetoo, but i lost it somewhere and i haven't got time on R9000 to try VLANS again...but yep, thanks in advance...!

This is the main thread for R9000 vlans if so post there Razz

What about those what help do you need there....be more specific, so it will be easy to help ?

one advise about R9000 set its fan to below 25, so its constantly on...those R9000 are heaving heat issues by design and cooling is vital towards its long-lasting life Smile

so, i don't let my cat to sleep on the top of it, but keep it in the freezer instead ...(not the cat )... Razz Razz laughing

p.s. KP-69 got colour shocked Laughing Embarassed

The actual fix involves tearing the device down and fixing the antenna cable routing, among other things, but this does help. Replacing those cables is a b*tch, but not impossible.
