Hi all
time has passed, and the old but stable r40270M kongat (07/11/19) is showing signs of the time passed.
During 2019 the Kong series was considered more “stable”, but after three years I’m starting considering if important fixes are needed and if new functionalities have been added from when Kong left
As new new features, just as an example, the r40270 does not have Flow Acceleration.
As fixes, sometimes my sons (using iPhone 11) are loosing wifi connection.
I’m wondering if time has arrived to jump in the BS firmware.
I see the last one as r48786/ 05-03-2022
What do you suggest: is it now advised do move to BS version ?

not only advised but a MUST...lots of security fixes + new binaries and WiFi drivers...as well, not bad idea after update, to reset your config and redo it manually...
DO NOT use config/safe files from different builds !! _________________ Atheros

I can't say for sure but I think the thread starter is wondering what build is best and there is already a stickey thread about that. I think he's looking for release builds thinking those are official.
One of the things most new users don't understand is that DD-wrt is perpetually beta software. Why there are never builds designated as "release" builds I do not know.
The only place I've ever seen people refer to anything like that is comments in the build threads where people talk about "fall back builds" or something similar. Even then it's just opinions.
The thread starter was asking about upgrading to the current release at the time of posting from a deprecated Kong build, none of which were "Official", and Kong only supported a specific list of routers he had in hand for testing. The question about "Official" releases was interjected later. Firmware released by BrainSlayer have always been the only "Official" DD-WRT releases since the beginning. Also, nobody saw the elephant in the room after the OP:

(CTF and) Flow Acceleration is(are) only available on Broadcom devices; all others only have Shortcut Forwarding Engine (QCA Fast-Classifier). _________________ "The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
