Is there an up to date guide for buying newer WiFi6 routers and support of DDWRT on them?

Want to upgrade my 10 year old r6300v1, but not sure what to buy.

routers like Netgear R7800 (XR500), R9000 (XR 700) still wi fi sufficient and able to resist the marketing wifi 6 trick...

Yeah its just that as you can see I upgrade like once a decade, so Im going to drop some cash Id like to get latest tech even if its currently useless. Maybe in 7 years it will be useful.

a quick search on brave:
https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=322965&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

and if you follow the thread and links you will end here

AX router (Atheros) donation is needed....

Brain Slayer (BS) He's working on a RAX120...so keep an eye on Atheros...

Consider how fast ISP transited to FO and provided speed went to Gig for the next 2-3 years R7800 and R9000 will still be top DDWRT, until they become dodo's at least another 2-3 years, but who knows...apart of that RAX120 are trading already at good price second hand Razz

Simple, quick answers and brevity go a long way and avoid confusion. It's best if we don't hear (read) the noise in your head. To answer the OP:

Announcement: 802.11 AX Supported routers- W.I.P. (Atheros)
Sticky: AX Router support for BCM (Broadcom - will never be supported)

No word on MediaTek; Marvell will likely never have Wifi6, but who knows. There are many other hardware vendors out there, as I am finding out, with current ISP-provided hardware.

Want to upgrade my 10 year old r6300v1, but not sure what to buy.
what's the reason you want to upgrade? What's the budget? Any timeframe for the upgrade? How much time can you spend to tinker with the router?
Others can give you better advices if you have the specific answers to those questions.
