Hi, I used the find function, unfortunately with no luck and I know you are probably tired of these "recommended router" threads as clearly shown in the stickied section at the top of this page.
However, this doesn't seem a topic usually discussed.
I have 2 home networks, each of them with their ISP router, with Linksys wrt3200acm running ddwrt cascade connected. These 2 ddwrt routers are connected with a wireguard tunnel.
I need to access the tunnel while on the train during the weekends, so I'm looking for a portable 5g option, reading a SIM and sharing the connection wired or with WiFi.
If no 5g options are available, 4g might work too. The battery should last for at least a couple of hours. I'm looking for a reliable option in terms of connectivity, sometimes during the train journey there are random spots with low data coverage.
Is any of you running ddwrt on any of these devices? Could you please recommend one based on your experience on the topic? Price limit I would say 250eur.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this doesn't seem to be portable. I need something battery powered.
Interesting device, I can see a newer model on their website too.
Hotspot on android doesn't carry VPN/wireguard, the traffic of the connected devices goes to the ISP instead of going to the tunnel (not sure about ios tho).
I will give this thing a try, let's see if it is worth the price after import duties from the states.
For the future: What about starting a project on some similar retail devices maybe?

I believe that if your data hits the router before the phone it will be in the VPN tunnel. I could be wrong though. I am interested in how it works out for you. Good luck. _________________ Netgear XR500 - Gateway

Similar hardware; caveat may likely be that the interface names may have changed over the years, so flashing a current build may have it's caveats and may require some startup script adjustment.
The other caveat is this is "unofficial support" which could and should be corrected by sending a hardware donation to BrainSlayer. Unofficially supported devices will have their place here in the forum, but don't expect as much attention as officially supported devices.
