I have an R7000P that I got from ebay with no power adapter. I have a new one on order, but I found one for one of my external drives that is 12v, 3A. The router booted into the netgear firmware and I immediately installed ddwrt (03/01/22 Build) All seemed to be fine.
I tried to configure it as a Client Bridge to it's bigger brother, the r7800. It appeared to connect, but no traffic, so I ran an nvram erase. Since then, I've not been able to get it to stop bootlooping. I have tried to recover it by TFTP, and nmprflash to no avail. I have tried both stock firmware and older builds of ddwrt to no avail. Any ideas? I appreciate it. _________________ ASUS RT-AC3100 AP Merlin 386.12_4

I will say this - on the stock firmware the interface comes up, but as soon as I get into the GUI and do not consent, it displays "this page cannot be displayed" and no further access to the gui. Then I used the reset button, holding for 8 seconds until the unit reboots - then bootloop again. _________________ ASUS RT-AC3100 AP Merlin 386.12_4

I checked the tech spec sheet, and the power requirements are 12v. 3.5a. I will report back once I get the correct adapter. _________________ ASUS RT-AC3100 AP Merlin 386.12_4

Update: Received the new power supply and the router booted up. I left it overnight to see if it kept running, and found it in a boot loop in the morning. The case itself was pretty warm. I wonder if it has an overheating issue?
Time to make this a "project" I suppose _________________ ASUS RT-AC3100 AP Merlin 386.12_4

It may be that the bridge mode is crashing the DHD driver. These things do run fairly warm, and hanging them on the wall seems to help. If it's that much of a concern, you can modify the top cover and add a fan to pull air through the case as well as replace the thermal pads. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

It currently has the latest stock firmware loaded. I used NMRPFlash to put it back on there after dd stopped working. If I can get the router to stay up long enough, I'm going to try NMRPflash again to ddwrt and turn off the radios. It always seems to crash when it initializes the radios for some reason. _________________ ASUS RT-AC3100 AP Merlin 386.12_4

I wouldn't think it would hold onto any nvram gremlins or such, but who knows what is going on. Might be time for a serial console to see what's going on. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"
