Hey

So I've dusted off my old linksys3200 and decided to use it as a wifi extender.

Now in my early days of "hacking", I managed to install the same dd-wrt 2x on each partition.

I've spent now few hours trying to update it (it's old, 2017 ver, or something like that). But no matter what/how I do. I cant flash up the new version nor flash the original firmware...

Can any1 share some of your wisdom and let me know how could I flash it?

I want to connect the ethernet cable to it & extend my downstairs wifi to upstairs...

Regards

It may be that you have a build that will not flash upgrades from webUI or you are trying to flash a build from the router database that may be too big to flash. Current release is 48432:

https://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2022/03-01-2022-r48432/linksys-wrt3200acm/

Everything I know of regarding the WRT AC series for DD-WRT is here:

Thanks for quick reply!
Yeah my ver is something like 32xxx or something like that. Very old.
I cant flash it back to official firmware, I'm running out of ideas as to how to un-flash it to another ver.
Should I try flashing to new 33/34/35/36 vers and just try to flash it up ver by ver?

Which build are we dealing with exactly? Telnet/SSH access as root with PuTTY or other? CLI Flash example:

cd /tmp

curl -O ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2022/03-01-2022-r48432/linksys-wrt3200acm/ddwrt-linksys-wrt3200acm-webflash.bin

md5sum ddwrt-linksys-wrt3200acm-webflash.bin (this is only for logging purposes, a reference, otherwise skip md5sum)

write ddwrt-linksys-wrt3200acm-webflash.bin linux

reboot

Alternative to curl -O is wget, and your build is old enough to support wget ftp otherwise use http download.

wget ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2022/03-01-2022-r48432/linksys-wrt3200acm/ddwrt-linksys-wrt3200acm-webflash.bin

wget http://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2022/03-01-2022-r48432/linksys-wrt3200acm/ddwrt-linksys-wrt3200acm-webflash.bin

No details about previous attempts I doubt older builds are needed for example /2018/01-07-2018-r34411/.

Thanks

Do you execute these commands on router? Or on linux os?
I'm a lil confused. If on router, then I take router need internet access?

I'll try them asap.

On the router, use a terminal client to access the router directly and yes WAN port needs internet access.

Otherwise, you need to set up http or ftp server to download the file over LAN (Http File Server, FileZilla)

or set up SSH then download the file using WinSCP. Easiest is Telnet CLI flash example WAN or LAN HFS.

Edit: New Build - 08/10/2022 - r49677
