I followed the great guide and got Kong's latest build installed on my XR500.
If I wanted to go back to the stock firmware, should I still use the special file for reverting to stock as listed in the guide or can I just tftp the latest firmware from Netgear?
It seems like it's labeled for the R7800 so I wasn't sure if it would work correctly for the XR500. I understand they are virtually identical in terms of hardware, but didn't want to brick the router.

You really managed to put a Kong r7800 build on the XR500?! That gives hope for my brand new bad blocks xr500 that won't take a BS build to save it's life. Gonna try that tonight and expect the worst but will be very happy if it does work.

My hopes weren't very high for this, but knowing I can always TFTP back, I gave it a shot on my XR450 with bad blocks. It didn't work. I don't think it ever actually booted at all (not a big surprise). No GUI, telnet, or wifi. I didn't open it for a serial connection to fully see what was happening, but it didn't bootloop, it just stayed on as a switch, which leads me to believe it never even got past uboot. _________________ Current devices:
